AT INDIA SEEKS TWO ASSISTANT MANAGERS FOR ITS GUJARAT PROGRAM
Appropriate Technology India (AT India) is a non-profit organization, established in August 1994. AT India's work is primarily in naturalresource management with focus on developing viable enterprises and productivity enhancing technologies for the rural poor. AT India has projects in Gujarat, Uttaranchal (Garhwal) and Tamil Nadu. In Gujarat, our work is targeted to provision of animal husbandry products and services through integrated interventions linking livestock experts, feed manufacturers, village dairy cooperatives and farmers of various districts of Gujarat. Our product and services range include marketing of animal feed supplements (Pashu Poshak®), fodder chaff cutters, complete feed blocks, and conducting training programs. AT India Ahmedabad has a well-qualified team of executives with degrees in management, marketing, economics, and animal nutrition, as well as a field staff of 30 coordinators working in 600 village dairy cooperative societies in Gujarat.
AT India/ Ahmedabad currently has two job openings for the positions described below:
Assistant Manager (Engineering)
Summary of Position
The candidate would be responsible for· The coordination and implementation of a project involving small-scale enterprise development through the manufacturing of fodder chaff cutters in Gujarat and their marketing through dairy cooperatives and village based entrepreneurs.· Manufacturing/production coordination and after sales service· Engineering/production aspects of other AT India products and servicessuch as the animal feed supplements and feed blocks, low cost feeding troughs· Writing project proposals, developing business· Work on expansion of AT India's work to other districts of Gujarat andwould be required to interact with a range of people from scientists, engineers to dairy cooperative staff, and farmers.
New business development and identification of other low cost technologies and projects.
Ideal qualifications would include a graduate/Post Graduate Degree in mechanical engineering with rural management background and 2 or more years experience working in the rural development sector in the implementation of projects.
Assistant Manager (Marketing)
Summary of Position
The candidate would be responsible for· Formulating rural marketing strategy, village-level enterprise development and coordination of marketing systems for all AT India's products and services in the animal feed, fodder machines, health care and agricultural sectors.· Work with the project management in strategic planning and new business development to meeting changing rural needs.· Training program development and coordination.· Writing project proposals, conducting feasibility studies, developing business plans and assisting with fund raising· Work on expansion of AT India's work to other districts of Gujarat and other states of India, as required.
Ideal qualifications would include a graduate/Post Graduate Degree in management (rural or other) with a background and/or knowledge of agriculture/animal husbandry/rural marketing, and 2 or more years experience working in the rural development sector in the implementation of projects.
Computer literacy, Good writing & communication skills, and fluency in English are essential for both the jobs. The ideal candidates would be a dynamic/innovative, self-motivated person with good interpersonal skills, willing and able to work to bring about change in rural livelihoods.
Salary packages will be determined based on experience and relevant skills.
