Technical Field Advisor – Water & Sanitation

(East Timor) 

The Oxfam program is based in four districts supported by a head office in Dili. The program is in a transitional phase seeking to strengthen the capacity of East Timorese organisations and groups to manage and implement community based environmental health projects; human rights; and women’s empowerment projects.

 Oxfam Australia is seeking Technical Field Advisors for the Environmental Health Program that focuses on health promotion, water supply and sanitation.

 Key Requirements:

 Minimum 2 years experience in the implementation of community-managed water supply and sanitation programs.

2.      Minimum 3 years experience in a discipline such as civil or mechanical engineering.

3.      Proven skills in the design and construction of low cost water supply and sanitation.

4.      Experience in leading, managing and supporting multi disciplinary and multi cultural teams.

5.      Well developed training, facilitation and community consultation skills.

6.      Ability to work in the Tetum or Bahasa Indonesian languages or willingness to learn.

7.      A high level of organisational, negotiation and oral and written communication skills.

8.      Self motivated with an ability to show initiative.

9.      Good management and teamwork experience.

 

10. Flexibility, ability to cope with transition between cultures and work under pressure
