PROFESSOR
A
Chair in
International Poverty Research is
vacant at the Centre for International Poverty Research, University of Bergen,
Norway .
The
person appointed to the vacant professorship will be head of the Centre for
international poverty research as well as responsible for the continuation of
the international research programme Comparative Research Programme for Poverty
Research (CROP).
The
person appointed will be expected to work closely with other scientific milieus
to make the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Bergen a
centre-piece in international poverty research. The professor will have a
central position in the work of the faculty to initiate, implement and
co-ordinate research and educational collaboration between the different
departments and centres within the faculty and with research and teaching
milieus at the other faculties of the University of Bergen, particularly with
the Christian Michelsen Institute and the Norwegian School of Economics.
The
establishment and support of lasting commitments to collaboration North-South
and South-South will be given special priority. The main emphasis will be on
research and dissemination of research results, but the person appointed will
also be responsible for the development of courses in poverty research, to be
implemented in collaboration with the departments of the faculty. She or he will
also be expected to contribute to research competence building through
supervision of students on master and doctoral levels.
Applicants
must have broad scientific competence in poverty research directed towards the
South and experience from working with multi-disciplinary research groups and
project management. Special consideration will be given to applicants with own
experience from contextual poverty research where the perspective is shifted
from studying the poor to the investigation of
the processes in the non-poor society that contribute to the creation,
maintenance or reduction of poverty. The position to be filled requires an open
attitude to different scientific approaches. The person appointed must be able
to collaborate broadly, have the capability to build networks and establish
joint ventures across different scientific milieus, and be able to disseminate
research information to all relevant strata of society.
Salary
will be paid in accordance with level 60 (code 1013) on the government salary
scale, at present NOK 395 831,00 gross p.a. A pension contribution of NOK 7
920,00 p.a. will
be deducted and paid in to the state pension scheme.
In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary
may be considered.
