Programme Co-ordinator, East, Central and Southern Africa

SCOPE:
This position is a full-time permanent position within Local 2440 of the
Canadian Union of Public Employees. The
competition is open internally and externally, in the sub-region and abroad, but
internal candidates will be considered first and will receive priority in
appointment.
SUMMARY:
The Programme Co-ordinator will work under the direction of the Africa
Regional Director. The successful
candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategies to
raise funds to support programming, and for providing leadership on programme
development in the sub-region. Currently
we have offices in South Africa, Mozambique and Tanzania, and the main focus of
the work is HIV/AIDS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ˇ
Proven
ability to raise funds around specific programmes, and knowledge of fundraising
principles and practices;
ˇ
Proven
programme management skills including development, implementation and
evaluation, based on a sound understanding of the political, social and economic
realities of the region ;
ˇ
Computer
literacy in use of word-processing, spreadsheet and relational data-bases;
ˇ
Excellent
communication skills in English; ability in Portuguese is an asset;
ˇ
Minimum
of 5 years work in the region within the not-for-profit/NGO sector at a similar
level of responsibility;
ˇ
Experience
of working with cooperants/volunteers overseas;
ˇ
Willingness
and ability to travel throughout the region.
LOCATION AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Location will be in one of the cities in the sub-region where
CUSO currently has an office (Johannesburg, Maputo, Arusha).
CUSO salaries are based on local norms.
Employees coming from outside the country of location may be eligible for
maintenance and relocation support. CUSO
