International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) a specialized agency of the UN, and working against poverty and hunger world over, is currently implementing the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project for Upland Areas in North East India with the objective of improving the livelihood of the vulnerable upland communities through sustainable management of their natural resources. To strengthen its multi-disciplinary professional team in its Programme Support Unit (PSU), it needs to appoint a suitable person in the post of Associate Project Coordinator on short-term contract / deputation basis for an initial period of 3 (three) years, extendable for another 3 (three) years based on performance.

Location : Shilling, Meghalaya with extensive field travel.

Qualifications & Experience : Degree in Development Economics / Development Statistics (experience in Monitoring & Evaluation / social Sciences / Rural Development / Natural Resources Development (agriculture, forestry, livestock etc). He / She should have led / coordinated multi-sectoral teams in the formulation and implementation of large scale projects in rural development for not less than 8 years or similar projects for the development of communities practicing upland / slash & burn agriculture for a period of not less than 5 years. Direct experience with community based natural resources, management & nurturance of community institutions is mandatory. Experience should include application of PRA tools for participatory resource planning, direct participation in the implementation of such plans by the community, and monitoring its progress using participatory methodologies.
Qualities of commitment, innovation and leadership skills with vision for the development of tribal communities will be assets.

Responsibilities : Assist the Programme Coordinator & Development Strategist in overall implementation of the project and in planning, implementation and monitoring of resource management efforts and community institution development, oversee the performance of the Monitoring & Evaluation Agency and support & train the Project staff in the operation of MIS, CPM Systems. Facilitate preparation of the Annual Work Plan & Budget, Community Action Plans, etc., liase with participating agencies to ensure effective implementation of project activities.

Compensation : Rs. 2.20 lakhs per annum (subject to revision).

Age : Age group requires to be around 40 years subject to relaxation in case deserving candidate.
