Social Economist

The position:
  • Participate in economic sector work and contribute to economic bulletins and state profiles.
  • Contribute to project design to amplify their impact on poverty reduction and assist in marking poverty impact assessment.
  • Assist in technical assistance and loan project administration
  • Develop and maintain social sector database. Monitor and analyze social sector policies of the government.
  • Coordinate NGO activities.
Competencies
A Ph.D degree in economics with minimum eight years of research / policy advisory / development management experience in issues relating to social development and poverty alleviation. Candidates should have a deep understanding of India's social and political dynamics.

Economist

The position :
  • Assist in economic and sector work and contribute to economic bulletins and state profiles.BR>
  • Develop and marcoeconomic models for forecasting.
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing economic, political and sector policy developments.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database on Indian economy and selected states.BR>
  • External relations with academics, governments and international agencies.
Competencies
A Ph.D degree in economics with a strong background in econometrics / quantitative methods and specialization in macroeconomics. Minimum three years of research experience in the application of quantitative methods for economic forecasting / policy making. Knowledge of standard / statistical packages expected.

For Both the positions :
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and computer skills and willingness to travel are expected for both the positions. Candidates should have strong interpersonal, diplomatic and cross cultural skills to liaise effectively with government, executing agencies aid other donors.>
