The
International
Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR),
a global intermediary development organization working in several countries with
the poor and their communities as their partner, enabling them to improve their
lives and achieve their full potential, aims to fill the following position:

The
successful candidate will:
Ensure
effective implementation of international courses, customized training and study
programs, international workshops and conferences; design systems, procedures
and conceptual and operational frameworks for the development of a specific
technical area relevant to IIRR’s education and training; ensure vertical and
horizontal integration of education and training projects and activities.
1.
As training coordinator
Identify
course design, facilitators/resource persons and support staff requirements
based on needs assessment; manage the course implementation by facilitating
communication between and among participants, facilitators and the training
team, and by synthesizing learning points; prepare post-course report and
provide feedback on course evaluation results.
2.
As technical specialist in education and training development
Develop
and implement an area of technical specialization, and ensure that its progress
is properly monitored and documented; provide technical assistance to other
development organizations in the area of technical specialization; represent the
Institute in public fora related to the area of technical specialization.
3.
As member of multidisciplinary team supporting other IIRR programs
Work
with field staff in developing, conducting and evaluating field-level education
and training interventions; identify content areas and field experiences that
can be integrated in IIRR courses, study programs and publications; serve as
faculty for training courses organized and conducted in the other IIRR regional
centers.
The Training Specialist post directly reports to the Program Head, and coordinates with other technical and management staff across the Institute, external resource persons and partner agency representatives.
The
successful candidate will have:
•
A
degree in education, community development, rural development, agriculture,
natural resource management, health, nutrition or other disciplines relevant to
IIRR’s program, Master’s preferred.
•
Minimum
of five years experience in education and training, preferably within an
international, cross-cultural work environment.
•
At
least three years experience in development work in any of the following areas:
community education, monitoring and evaluation, participatory approaches and
tools (i.e., PRA, participatory research, participatory curriculum development,
etc.), agriculture extension, gender and development, or MIS.
•
Excellent
written and oral English skills; other language skills an advantage.
•
Strong
interpersonal skills and an effective team player.
