Development facilitators/consultants

KHANYA

Khanya - Managing Rural Change is a company that is collectively owned and managed, and specialises in facilitating change processes to promote the development of rural livelihoods. We work at policy, institutional and community level, primarily in Africa, providing strategic planning, consultancy, facilitation, project management, training and action-research in rural development and change management for poverty eradication. We have clients in 8 countries in Africa, as well as international organisations.

Due to our expanding workload, we are looking to recruit dynamic and experienced South African development workers to join the company full-time or as part-time associates, to engage in various development projects both locally and internationally. All applicants should have at least 3 years work experience and be able to demonstrate personal commitment to participatory and pro-poor development.  Applications from disadvantaged groups will have priority. We are looking for people with consultancy skills, general rural development experience, as well as people with particular specialisms such as local government/IDPs, community development, organisational development, social development, economics, environment, local government, HIV/AIDS, or SMME development. Location for full-time staff will be either Bloemfontein (head office), E Cape or Kwazulu/Natal, and possibly Gauteng. Assignments will involve travel and may involve extended periods elsewhere in Africa. All fulltime staff will become co-owners after a probationary period. Staff are paid a basic salary and then a commission based on earnings, giving a very competitive package.

We request CVs indicating past work experience, areas of expertise, locations where you are prepared to be based and a letter highlighting how your expertise may be of particular relevance to Khanya’s work.

Applicants should also indicate their willingness to have their CVs used in Khanya’s database. A work profile and further detail about Khanya can be found on our website, www.khanya-mrc.co.za.   Applications should be sent to Tsiliso Tamasane at tsiliso@khanya-mrc.co.za, or faxed to 051 430 8322. The closing date for receipt of CVs is 16 March 2001. Potential applicants will be contacted in late March for interviews.
