Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) is a
Non-Governmental Organisation with close links to the Norwegian Labour
Movement. NPA is involved in humanitarian relief and long-term development
co-operation in 34 different countries with around 100 expats abroad per
year in addition to more than 3000 locally employed staff members.

Background:
·
The NPA Angola office was established in 1989.
In spite of the war, NPA continues its development co-operation in
several of Angola’s provinces. NPA Angola runs both a long-term
development programme and a mine-action programme, and employs
approximately 650 staff members. The 2001 budget is approximately USD 8
million. NPA is the largest organisation in Angola involved in detecting,
charting and clearing landmines. The mine-action programme consists of
several, but interconnected projects, using manual de-mining,
mine-detection dogs, mechanical mine clearance and mine survey capacities.
The main purpose is to free land for settlement purposes and development
activities in rural areas. |

Responsibilities: ·
Management of the programmes, including personnel and
finance, reporting, follow-up, contact with donors and partners both
nationally and internationally ·
Develop strategies and working plans for the programmes ·
Evaluation and quality
control of methods and personnel |

Qualifications: ·
Experience from project and personnel management ·
Experience from financial management and budgetary control ·
Both written and verbal proficiency in English ·
Ability to work under difficult circumstances and be able
to handle a high level of stress ·
International background preferable ·
Knowledge
of Portuguese/Spanish language is an advantage |
