NPA is involved in humanitarian relief and long-term development co-operation in 34 different countries with around 150 expats abroad per year in addition to more than 3.000 locally employed staff. Expected turnover in 2000 is NOK 800 million. The NPA Head Administration is located in Oslo, Norway. |
Programme Manager Mine Action Programme in Angola ((01/01)) | |
Background: NPA has had an office in Angola since 1989. In spite of the war, NPA continues its development co-operation in several of Angolas provinces. NPA Angola includes both a long-term development programme and a mine action programme and employs approximately 650 staff. The budget for 2001 is approximately USD 8 million. NPA is the largest organisation involved in detecting, charting and clearing landmines in Angola. The mine action programme consists of several, but interconnected projects, using manual demining, mine detection dog, mechanical mine clearance and mine survey capacities. The main purpose is to free up land for settlement purposes and development activities in rural areas. Our current Programme Manager will soon take up a position at the Head Administration in Oslo and NPA therefore seeks his successor from about 15 April 2001. | |
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the overall supervision of the Resident Representative, the Programme Manager will assume the following management duties and responsibilities:

Qualifications: We emphasise the importance of strong health, cross-cultural communication skills and sensitivity, an ability to work well under pressure and in difficult conditions. The applicant must also have a driving license. | |
Working conditions: The position is based in Luanda, with frequent travel to project areas. Luanda is a hardship post and has security implications.
