Summary
The
Support Centre Editor is responsible for editing OneWorld's Online Support
Centre as a component of the 'Common Space' planned between OneWorld and 4
other organisations. He/she will
be based in New Delhi and will report to the ICT Channel editor.
The job purpose is to produce a Support Centre that delivers its
mission as set out below. The Centre will be aimed at a worldwide audience and
draw upon resources produced by OneWorld and its partners.
Mission
of the Support Centre
The
mission of the Support Centre is to provide a one-stop online shop for
OneWorld partners as well as a general audience interested in studying or
teaching modules on how ICTs can be used for development purposes.
It should cover topics such as:

Getting connected
·
HTML basics
·
'Which' guide to HTML editing programmes
·
using websites to achieve strategic communication goals
·
web page formatting
·
web site maintenance
·
comparisons of content management systems
·
writing for the internet
·
use of statistics and other site-monitoring tools
·
publicizing websites
·
using websites for advocacy, networking and fund-raising
·
directory of web resources
·
use of wireless communications
·
use of digital radio
·
methods of using the internet to support other development media
(radio, TV, mobile phones)
·
uploading/downloading of audio, video and image files
·
directory of listservs and electronic conferences
·
directory of local resources
All
content on the Support Centre should be in easily downloadable form for
trainers or students.
Specific
Responsibilities
Location: New Delhi, India.
Contract period: 24 months
Salary: £10,000/year
