International Program Director

Friends of the Earth


Summary

Friends of the Earth (FoE)-US, a national environmental advocacy organization, is hiring for a senior level position: International Program Director. The International Program Director oversees five campaigns: Reforming the World Bank, IMF, Trade, Corporate Accountability and Export Credit Agencies. The International Program Director is also responsible for fundraising, developing media strategies, representing FoE with the public and lobbying key institutions, the Administration and Congress. The International Program Director is also a member of the Senior Management Team and contributes to organizational development.

Friends of the Earth US is a member group of Friends of the Earth International, with affiliates in 68 countries around the world.

General Responsibilities 

The International Program Director will fulfill the following responsibilities:

· Oversee the campaigns, develop and maintain strategic direction of programs, provide feedback and supervise campaign staff.
· Lobby Congress, the Administration and international institutions on international environmental issues.
· Serve as organizational spokesperson on international issues with the media and general public.
· Collaborate with other organizations nationally and internationally; liaison with Friends of the Earth International.
· Responsible for fundraising and managing team finances.
· Participate on Senior Management Team and contribute to organizational development.
· Oversees personnel responsibilities for international program.


Qualifications

Experience and personal attributes required include:

· At least 5-7 years experience leading advocacy campaigns;
· At least 3-4 years management and supervisory experience;
· Proven success with fundraising;
· Strong leadership skills and organizational capability;
· Ability to delegate and empower staff to excell in their work;
· Politically astute and a strategic thinker;
· Excellent written and oral communication skills;
· Foreign language skills and a sense of humor are a plus;
· A strong personal commitment to environmental and social justice.


The International Program Director will join a dynamic, innovative organization and work with highly motivated and skilled staff. Applicants must be willing to travel internationally for this position.
