The Urban Finance and Management (UFM) Program of the Center for International Development (CID) of the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is seeking qualified candidates for a home-office position, based in the Research Triangle Park, NC, USA.
Responsibilities will include guiding the UFM vision and focus by identifying issues of concern to donors and developing countries and setting clear goals and priorities. The successful candidate will interact with various clients to conceptualize and develop new program activities and identify key topical areas for growth in technical assistance, product development and research, and training. This position will also lead efforts to increase the visibility in development community of UFM's technical stature; design initiatives to expand UMF's client base beyond USAID.
Required qualifications are the following:
An advanced degree in Public Finance or related fields with at least 10 years professional experience; 5 years of experience in international development work and at least 2 years of resident experience in a developing country or transitional economy. Managerial experience in technical assistance, applied research, and training is essential. Experience in urban issues, democracy and governance, social sector issues in crosscutting programs. Experience in marketing and business development and working with donors in the development community. Applicants must have an understanding of such clients' strategies and market; demonstrated technical leadership skills and stature and have a proven track record for developing and implementing entrepreneurial approaches to building an applied research and technical assistance business. Considerable international and domestic travel is required.
