Sir
Ratan Tata Trust is one of the oldest Indian foundations and today, continues to
pursue the goal of being a professionally managed philanthropic organisation.
The Trust supports innovative initiatives in the not-for-profit/development
sector in the thematic areas of Promoting Livelihoods and Strengthening
Communities in the rural sector, Basic Education, Preventive Health, Arts &
Culture and Public Initiatives. The Trust also launched the Sir Ratan Tata Small
Grant Programme in 1998-99. The Trust is looking for a bright, outstanding and
enterprising young individual to be a part of its Programme Management Team
which is increasingly gearing up to identify new funding opportunities in this
challenging arena while simultaneously learning from its past grant-making
experiences.
Programme
Associate
S/he
will assist senior programme staff in developing and supporting the Trust’s
funding portfolio. The job will entail working, both independently and as a part
of the Team, with potential and current grantees; in project identification,
appraisal and proposal development; evaluation and analysis of project progress;
and documentation, reporting and monitoring. Ideally, s/he should: (a) be a
graduate from TAPMI/IRMA/IIFM/XIMB or a similar institute with an excellent
academic track record; (b) have completed at least one Management Traineeship
Segment/Organisational Training/Summer Training in a non-profit organisation;
(c) be in the age group of 21-27; (d) have desire and an ability to work in a
challenging, demanding and learning environment with deadline oriented outputs;
and (e) have the willingness and ability to travel extensively in hard and
trying conditions in both rural and urban settings. Preference would be given to
those having at least one years experience of working in the development sector.
Candidates with basic academic background in a discipline relevant to the
development sector will have an added advantage.
The
right candidate should be able to demonstrate a balance of operational field
skills; communication, writing & research skills; management skills;
interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of people
including senior and fellow professionals. Ideally, s/he should be growth
oriented and hard working, have a mature outlook, with a long-term perspective
and a visible interest in, and commitment to, a career in the development
sector. Language proficiency in English and Hindi is a must, as also skills in
word processing, spreadsheet and database management. The gross emoluments will
be fixed around Rs. 10,000/- per month for the first year of the three-year
contractual position. Only those
