People's Science Institute is a non-profit research and development organisation based at Dehra Doon has the following vacancies : 1. Faculty of Forestry * : Post : One Responsibilities: (a) Preparation of curricular materials for training Watershed Development Teams in Nursery Raising and Afforestation; preparing biomass estimates and Forest Mensuration. (b) Undertaking research projects on Forest Management and Environmental Impact Assessment Studies. (c) Guiding younger colleagues in community afforestation projects. 2. Faculty in Social Work ** : Post : One Responsibilities: (a) Preparation of curricular materials for training Watershed Development Teams in Rural Development, PRA, formation of Community Based Organisations including savings and credit groups, micro-enterprises, etc. (b) Undertaking research on projects related to participatory approaches to rural development, equity issues and conflict resolution. (c) Guiding younger colleagues in managing field projects. 3. Faculty in Civil Engineering *** : Post : One Responsibilities: (a) Preparation of curricular materials for training Watershed Development Teams in design soil and water conservation structures; preparation of estimates. (b) Undertaking research on projects related to hydrology, appropriate technology for floods control and irrigation. (c) Guiding younger colleagues in implementing field projects. 4. Research Assistant (Forestry) * : Post : One Responsibilities: (a) Community Afforestation projects at PSI. (b) Providing forestry-related field support to voluntary organisations engaged in Watershed Development. 5. Research Assistant (Civil Engineering) *** : Post : Two Responsibilities: (a) (i) Assisting in and undertaking the planning, design and construction of soil and water conservation structures. (ii) Construction of disaster resistant buildings. (b) Providing field support to projects carried out by PSI. 6. Project Co-ordinator ** : Post : One Responsibilities: (a) Assisting in community mobilisation, formation of community-based-organisation, Self-help Groups, Mahila Mangal Dals, savings and credit groups and micro-enterprises. (b) Facilitating PSI's project work in Palamau and providing guidance to other colleagues. * Minimum Masters Degree or Equivalent in Forest Mgt. from a reputed institute. ** Minimum Masters Degree or Equivalent in social work from a reputed institute. *** Minimum Masters Degree / B.E./B.Tech (Civil) from a reputed institute. Experience and Salary : For Positions 1,2 &3 - Over 30 years of age with 7-10 years of experience in related field, Gross Salary 10,000-12,000/- per month depending upon experience. Higher salaries can be considered for persons with greater experience. For positions 4,5 - Gross Salary Rs. 6000-7000/- per month (Experience Preferred) For Position 6 - 2 years of experience in related field, Gross Salary Rs. 7000/- to 8000/- per month. This position is for PSI's Office at Daltonganj, Palamau, Bihar. (12% of the basic will be added to EPF for all the above. Fluency in Hindi & English is a must). Important : PPSI is an affirmative action employer. The initial appointment for all the above is for a probationary period of 6 months.
