Requires : Programme Manager

Oxfam is looking for an energetic, resourceful, and articulate Programme Manager to lead a team to enhance HIV/AIDS prevention and care services of its partner NGOs in India. Oxfam wants to share lessons learnt at grassroots level with other organisations working in sate, national and international levels, to contribute to the development of appropriate models of prevention, treatment and care. The UK National Lottery Charities Board is funding this programme.

The Programme Manager will lead the team of a Programme Officer and a Project Officer (Finance), based in Oxfam's Calcutta office. Oxfam particularly welcomes applications from women for this post, is offering a 4-year contract, with reasonable salary and other benefits.

Candidates should have :

  • Have appropriate post-graduate qualifications and some years senior management experience in social development work, preferably with NGOs and in health.
  • Be able to relate to NGOs, CBOs and to officials at state and national levels.
  • Have experience in health and social policy analysis and advocacy work.
  • Have an understanding of the development implications HIV/AIDS
  • Have a commitment to gender and social equity.
  • Have team management and budget management experience
  • Be able to manage training and give support to colleagues and partner NGOs.br>
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and another major Indian language, and work processing skills.
  • Be prepared to travel away from base for up to 15 days per month.
