POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE
The West Africa Rice Development Association (WARDA) headquartered in the Mbé Valley, Bouaké, Côte d'Ivoire invites applications for the position of Director of Administration and Finance (DAF).
About WARDA:
WARDA is an association of 17 West and Central African countries that conducts research and development activities towards improving the sustainable productivity of rice-based systems in West and Central Africa and supports the National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) through collaborative research, development and training. As one of the 16 international agricultural Research centres funded by the Consultative Group on International agricultural Research (CGIAR), WARDA adheres to the CGIAR standards of excellence in scientific research and management. WARDA's Main Research Centre and Headquarters is located 25 km North of Bouaké, a major commercial centre in Côte d'Ivoire. Bouaké offers excellent living conditions with a population of about 800,000 and excellent international schools for both French and English speaking students.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES.
The position of DAF is a senior manager's position. The DAF has responsibility for the leadership and direction for
the Institute's administration, finance and operations. Administrative responsibilities include management and development of human resources, liaison functions, and all general support services. Operational responsibilities include the effective management of the non-research farm operations, mechanical workshop and physical plant facilities. Financial responsibilities cover all aspects of accounting, budgeting and treasury functions in support of institute-wide needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants should possess:
* A progressive and proven record of effective administrative, operational and financial services support, management and leadership;
* a commitment to a team leadership approaches;
* experience and ability to work effectively in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary research environments;
* a commitment to a service oriented approach to excellence in support of research needs.
* excellent interpersonal skills;
* excellent writing and communication skills in English or French with adequate working knowledge of the other.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
At least a MBA/MSc degree or equivalent in Business/Financial Management, Economics or related field; coupled with at least 10 years progressive experience in management and leadership roles in a large organization; preferably in an international organization with fluency in English or French with adequate working knowledge of the other.

Salary and benefits are internationally competitive.
The initial contract period is two years and is renewable.
