POSITIONS: Auditor
This
position helps ensure offices in the region have policies, procedures and
systems that promote good stewardship of World Vision resources consistent with
the purposes for which the funds were given.
The
position helps promote financial accountability and internal control in the
region through four primary objectives:
a.
Review National Office systems to ensure compliance with the World Vision
Financial Manual (FM) and general accounting principles
(GAAP) and practices.
b.
Review project accounting systems to ensure they provide proper
accountability of resources consistent with donor requirements and good
stewardship.
c.
Perform financial audits or pre audits on a regular basis by reviewing
policies and internal controls and the completeness and accuracy of financial
records.
d.
Review capital asset records to ensure that they are properly procured,
recorded, and protected.
e.
Perform special audits as requested by the Regional Vice President (RVP).
f.
Advise
the Country Director, the RVP and the Regional Finance Director of any
significant gaps in internal control, misappropriation or other major deficiency
and follow up to ensure that corrective action is taken.
g.
Prepare
reports of audit findings and give recommendations to management after each
audit review is completed.
h.
Work
closely with National Offices to ensure that recommendations from prior audits
are implemented or appropriately addressed.
i.
Build local project audit capacity in National Offices and help them
identify the financial and human resources needed to provide this function.
j.
Prepare and lead audit training for National Offices in the region.
k.
Closely coordinate with the World Vision International Audit department.
l.
Assist
the international partnership with audit assignments outside the region as time
permits.
m.
Provide spiritual leadership in the office.
The
following knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination
of formal courses, self paced education, and prior work experience.
Must have a university diploma or degree in accounts (accounting), auditing or similar financial qualification. Must have at least 3 years experience in auditing, including audit of government grants (e.g. US A-133 and EU). Certification (CPA, CIA or CA) preferred. Experience in micro credit programs preferred. Must be able to travel extensively within the region, probably between 25-50%. Must have good working knowledge of computerised accounting systems, preferably Sun Systems. Must be computer literate in using Microsoft Office programs. Must have numerical aptitude. Must be able to work in cross-cultural environment.
