Deicide - In Torment, In Hell (Roadrunner) My Rating: 2.5 of 5 Chromosomes In what appears tro be Deicide's last release by Roadrunner, if you read the thanks at least, Deicide delivers what has been there staple for 12 years now. That being the outwardly anti-god, pro satan mesaging and brutally fast and furious death metal pounding. I will say something first Insinerathym, their last CD, was good but I still thing the Once Upon the Cross and Legion are Deicide as I love them. Which brings us to the new CD In Torment.. First, the mix is different on this one it seems, the normal slice and dice razor sharp distortion of the guitars is replaced by a muddier sound that loads out the low end when put in with Steve Asheim's Drums, and Glen's bass which is depressing kind of. But that does not stop the fact that it is Deicide and all the normal high runs, and screaming solos are there. Imminent Doom is a bad ass track with it's loopty loop guitar riff and drums. Child of God is a killer track harkening back to there First CD in structure and content a truely punishing song. Lurking Among Us is another killer track from the CD, a little more plodding and relentless, with the lightning quick flashes thrown in here and there. In Torment in Hell is not Deicides finest CD, it is a good CD, but not a killer one on the first listen. If you are a longtime fan of Deicide it is worth a listen, if you are a first time listen I recommend Legion, Deicide or Once Upon the Cross. |
