The Escort Frigate is an Imperial vessel, however the New Republic has a large quantity of them through defection and capture. Primarily used as command ships, search and rescue, long range reconaissance, starfighter platforms and anti starfighter defences. They are capable vessels used to support larger war ships in combat. A good tactic is to deploy them in pairs to cover eachother.
