Keeping imported items from morphing

Anybody who's downloaded Raymonds trainer and tried to import items off the net has found that the items work in the current game, but morph into completely different items (with dur 0/0) when a new game is started. We think we have figured out why:

There are four distinct classes of item byte formats in the Diablo and Hellfire programs - Diablo single-player, Diablo multi-player, Hellfire single-player and Hellfire multi-player. The codes (i.e. what the trainer saves as the .ITM or .HIF file) mean different things between the four games. This is because the item tables are different for single player and multi player games, and Hellfire has a different item set from Diablo. So your Diablo obs/zod rings will morph into staves when you import them into Hellfire, because the code for an obs/zod ring in Diablo is completely different from the code for an obs/zod in Hellfire. And vice versa.

Also, there are items in single player (Veil of Steel, Black Mushroom, etc) that should not appear in multiplayer. Thus, moving items from single-player to multiplayer will also cause the items to morph.

You can import Diablo .itm items into Hellfire BUT NOT the other way around.
Ok. How do you keep them from morphing? Only import items that come from the same type of game. If you're playing Hellfire single, only import items that come from other Hellfire single-player games (preferably from the same game version). Keep your multiplayer items separate from single player items.

I've noticed that most sites that offer .ITM and .HIF files don't indicate what kind of games their items come from, hence the confusion. So if your new Royal Circlet didn't morph - lucky you, it probably came from the same kind of game. If it did, try looking for someone else with an RC - and hope they're also playing multi...
