The Story

Seven kids are staying at Summer Camp when all of the sudden, a freak snowstorm hits. Soon afterwards, strange devices drop out of the sky, but as soon as they take a hold of them, they get transported to another world! One by one, the kids befriend the strange inhabitants of the unknown planet, called Digimon, Digital Monsters, and set their minds to getting home right away. But after being attacked by some much bigger Digimon, which cause their own to Digivolve--or grow--into bigger, more powerful ones themselves, the kids realize that getting home isn't in their near future. First the kids encounter Devimon, an evil demon who uses Black Gears to controll other Digimon and turn them bad themselves. After tricking the seven kids into one place, he seperated them--and File Island--and made sure each one landed on a different piece. Little did he know that the one Digimon he thought the weakest would bring about his downfall: Patamon. Soon afterwards, the seven meet a mysterious old man who calls himself Gennai, who communicates to them through holograms. Gennai informs them that they are the Digidestined, sent to the Digiworld to save it from the evils hoping to destroy it. In order to to this, they each must find their own tags and crests, which will let their Digimon Digivolve farther. So the Digidestined set out, in search of their crests. Of course, nothing comes easy, for the crests are hidden, and another evil Digimon stands in their way: the rock-and-roll monkey, Etemon. With a dark network that can sap the energy of any Digimon, he seems impossible to defeat, until Tai's crest causes his Digimon to evolve to it's Ultimate level, and blast the problem away. With Etemon gone and all of the crests found, the kids get seperated for a while. One by one, they all encounter a suspiciously friendly Digimon called Demidevimon, who tricks them into getting into trouble. Once the kids are all finally reunited, they discover that there is an eighth Digidestined Child, one that Myotismon, Demidevimon's boss, is out to kill. To save them, the kids must go back to the real world and retrieve them themselves, all before Myotsmon gets near or their Digimon are discovered. But finding the child isn't easy, for they reside in a large city in Japan, where there are pleanty of children to go around. With a gaggle of evil henchmen who embark on their own search and get in the Digidestineds' way, Myotismon makes the job no easier, and stops at nothing to get to them, including destroying the city. Finally, two of his own servants, Gatomon and Wizardmon, discover that they were meant to be with the eighth child all along, and Wizardmon takes Gatomon to her new partner--Tai's sister, Kari. But Myotismon learns of this, and kidnaps Gatomon to get to Kari. After a long battle between ultimates, Gatomon digivolves to Angewomon, and defeats Myotismon once and for all, or so it seems... By six-o-six PM, Myotismon returns, in his Mega form: Venomyotismon. Going back into battle, the eight discover that nothing can defeat him, not Champions, not Ultimates, not even two Angels. Finally, it is discovered that the Angels must "shoot arrows of hope and light" (T.K.'s crest is the Crest of Hope and Kari's the Crest of Light) in order for a miracle to happen. So, being brave, Tai and Matt allow themselves to be hit by the arrows of the Angels, and their Digimon become Mega as well! After another long battle, Venomyotismon is finally deleted, and the real world is safe. Given no time to rest, the eight Digidestined are promptly returned to the Digiworld, which they discover, to their astonishment, has underwent a total apocalypse. What takes a few days in the real world takes a few years in the Digital one, and it is now under rule by the Dark Masters, four evil Digimon all in their Mega forms. Fighting against Metalseadramon, Machinedramon, Puppetmon, and the powerful Piedmon, the Digidestined must reach Spiral Mountain to find the key to defeating them. But again, nothing's ever easy, and just as soon as they set off for it, Metalseadramon attacked. After running from him for a few days, Whamon helps destroy him by sacrificing himself. Wargreymon destroys him, and the kids reach dry land. Soon afterwards, Puppetmon comes and gets T.K. to 'play' with him, which freaks out Matt and causes him to leave the group with nothing but Gabumon. Cherrymon, a giant tree Digimon, plays with Matt's mind and convinces him that Tai is the enemy, and soon Metalgarurumon attacks the Digidestined and locks into battle with Wargreymon. An entity then speaks through Kari and uses her light to stop the battle, giving the kids a bit of a history lesson on the Digiworld and why they became the Digidestined. The group then splits up again, Matt going one way alone, Joe and Mimi another, and the rest off to Puppetmon's mansion. Joe and Mimi meet up with a wounded Ogremon and heal him, making him realize that he should no longer be their enemy since they're all under the terror reign of the Dark Masters. But then the three meet up with Metaletemon and are really in trouble, until Saberleomon shows up. Sadly, Saberleomon must sacrifice himself to save the others and destroy Metaletemon. Joe, Mimi, Ogremon, and their Digimon then embark on a journey to the destroyed Primary Village. Meanwhile, Tai, Sora, T.K., Kari, and Izzy are fighting Puppetmon when he uses his mansion as a weapon against them. As they try to hold the house back, Metalgarurumon appears from out of nowhere and fries him with his Metal Wolf Claw. After that, he and Matt dissapear into the forest again. Soon Kari has a relapse of her cold, and quickly the five, with the help of Kabuterimon, find a place for her to rest. Tai and Izzy go out to look for medicine, but encounter many obstacles along the way: Machinedramon's henchmen. They finally get the medicine and reach Kari (with a little bit of help from Angemon) when Machinedramon himself shows up and fires his deadly Giga Cannon, sending everyone tumbling down a seemingly bottomless pit. The five are seperated, T.K. and Sora ending up with Kari, and Tai ending up with Izzy, on seperate sides of a dark sewer. Soon Kari and her group stumble uppon a horrible scene: Numemon being forced to work by the evil Warumonzaemon. With the help from her Crest of Light, the Digimon get an energy boost and help to free the Numemon. Meanwhile, Tai and Izzy encounter an old friend: Andromon! Suddenly Machinedramon attacks, but Tentomon and Agumon are too tired to Digivolve. Andromon tries to hold him off, but Kari and the others arrive in the nick of time. Her light revives Agumon and he warp Digivolves, slicing Machinedramon "like an onion". Angemon, Angewomon, and Birdramon then fly the five up to the top of Spiral Mountain, preparing to battle Piedmon. Meanwhile, Joe and Mimi, along with some new allies from File Island, stumble uppon Elecmon, playing Matt's harmonica. Elecmon points them in the direction Matt left, and then joins Mimi and the others to go help in the fight with Piedmon. Back at the Mountain, Angewomon is engaged in a fierce cat fight with LadyDevimon when she finally defeats her with an awesome Heaven's Charm. Piedmon himself then comes down, and Agumon warp digivolves to hold him off until the others arrive. At the same time, Matt is stuck in a cave formed by the darkness in his own heart. Fortunately, Gabumon snaps him out of it just in time and they meet up with Joe. When Sora befalls the same fate, it takes the both of them with a little help from T.K. and Biyomon to bring her to her senses. Quickly, they rush to Spiral Mountain, where a severely injured Tai and Wargreymon lay. Matt's crest heals the both of them, and Metalgarurumon joins the fight. When it looks like they finally have Piedmon cornered, though, he pulls out a white handkercheif and turns them into keychains! One by one, each of the Digidestined and their Digimon befall the same fate, no matter how fast they run, until only T.K., Kari, and Patamon are left. Cornered, only Angemon is left to battle Piedmon while the two kids try to make their escape, but he is easily defeated. But just as Piedmon sends T.K. and Kari on a long fall, the Crest of Hope finally glows and he digivolves into MagnaAngemon and saves them. He turns the keychains back to normal again, and then goes to fight Piedmon with the others. As a last resort, Piedmon brings in a hoarde of flying monkeys called Vilemon, but just then Mimi arrives with her Digimon allies. They easily destroy the Vilemon while the others are sucked into MagnaAngemon's Gate of Destiny. Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon then throw Piedmon into the Gate, and it snaps closed, deleting him.
But before the kids have time to celebrate, Gennai emails them saying that the Dark Masters were not the real evil, and a hole opens up underneath them to yet another horror....
