While you wait for the page to finish loading, note that all of these items have from time to time been up for bids at eBay -- how else was I able to come up with so many captured pics? -- so you'll want to use the following Search terms in your hunt, and be sure to click the checkbox next to Search Descriptions:
· New Mickey Mouse Club
· Mickey Mouse Club
· Mouse Club
· Mouseketeer
· Mouseketeers
· Disco Mouse (You'll most often come up with the "Mickey Mouse Disco" LP that was released in 1979. Avoid it, as the "Disco Mouse" song isn't part of the album, just keep an eye out for the 45 single instead.)
Before we start, here's a hint of what NOT to look out for -- the pinback buttons to the left (from L to R) represent the logos of the original televised 1950's "Mickey Mouse Club" (with Annette Funicello), and the more recent 1990's Disney Channel-exclusive "Mickey Mouse Club" (with Keri Russell, Britney Spears, Deedee Lynn Magno, 'NSYNC's Justin Timberlake & JC Chasez).
To the right is a pinback button representing the logo of 1977's "New Mickey Mouse Club" -- the focus of this guide and the main thing to spot when hunting for NMMC merchandise. Note the key distinguishing characteristic is "MICKEY MOUSE CLUB" in the white block letters. Sometimes variants of the logo can be found with these traits: yellow colored letters, yellow background behind Mickey's head, or Mickey's face and tounge are white instead of flesh-tone and red, respectively -- this last example was most commonly seen on the New Mouseketeers' costumes. Trivia: this logo is a merger of the red ring and Mickey head configuration -- though not precisely duplicated, as the ring is thicker and Mickey is drawn differently -- from the 50's logo, with lettering that was first used as the masthead font for the Disney-published newsletter distributed to the 1930's nationwide "Mickey Mouse Clubs" -- in short, the 70's logo, though relatively new, is also a tribute to its two predecessors.
The Mickey Mouse Club Scrapbook, Paperback, 1977. Ignore all other Scrapbooks before and after, as though they all concern the 1950's Club, only this edition contains a "sneak preview" section on the 1970's Club!
The New Mickey Mouse Club Book by Howard Ashman, copyright 1977. Among the chat regulars at #DiscoMice, this is known as "the Ashman book" for short. No fan of the 70's Club should be without it as it contains the greatest number of New Mouseketeer photos of any book.
The All New Mickey Mouse Club Funbook by Golden Press. Comic book format with mostly Disney character cartoons, but with "mini-biographies" of the New Mouseketeers.
Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse and the Mouseketeers Ghost Town Adventure, A Little Golden Book, #D135, copyright 1977. Known to have gone through at least five annual printings!
Walt Disney's The Mouseketeers' Train Ride, A Golden Shape Book, #5894, copyright 1977. Both softcover and hardcover editions (for libraries' children's sections) exist.
Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse and the Mouseketeers: The Animal Guessing-Game Book, a Whitman Tell-A-Tale Book, copyright 1977.
The New Mickey Mouse Club Sticker Book, by Whitman, copyright 1977. Front cover and back cover. I welcome scans of the actual stickers themselves.
(L to R)Whitman's "Let's Go Day" and "Maple Leaf Rag" Frame Tray Puzzles. Note the Maple Leaf Rag is a mirror image!
Whitman's New Mickey Mouse Club Coloring Book, #1080. The "Flying Boat" art cover. Originally sold for 39 cents, a second printing revealed a 10-cent increase!
"Let's Go Day", Whitman 1379, front and back covers.
"Surprise Day", Whitman 1380
"Discovery Day", Whitman 1381
"Showtime Day", Whitman 1382
Missing are scans from the covers of Monday's "Who, What, Why, Where, When And How Day", along with the back cover and a larger front cover of "Mouseketeer Madcaps" (left). I need images scanned at 800x1084 pixels, at 72 ppi.
"Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers" GAF View-Master Packets, H9 (left) for American distribution, and H9C (right) for Canadian sales. I think these packets have new series numbers assigned to them but will have to check it out.
"The All New Mickey Mouse Club Cast Album", Disneyland Records 2501. 14 tracks, bonus poster inside (folded, at right), as well as a lyric sleeve. The #1-selling children's LP of 1977. Used albums without the poster are far more common than those with it.
