Bill and Ted, two teenagers who are about to fail their history exam, get a little extra help from a gnarley time-traveling dude from the future. Because the entire future of civilization rests on Bill and Ted's history test, they are given the opportunity to travel back in time to collect some of the most historical figures; Billy the Kid, Socrates, Joan of Arc, Beethoven, Sigmund Freud, Gengis Kahn, Napoleon and Abraham Lincoln. Bill and Ted's ignorance of history is hilarious. For example, they mispronounce many of the names wrong, specifically Socrates (sow-crates), and calls the King of England and his guards 'Royal Ugly Dudes'. Real funny but runs out of steam at the end.
