Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway musical is brought to the big screen with all its extravagance intact. It's about the short life of Eva Peron, first lady of Argentina during the 1940's-1950's. This rock opera has fantastic music with a little tweaking here and there done from its original 70's soundtrack to appeal to a 90's audience with a new song added. Madonna was a fine choice to play the title character and Antonio Banderas, though not the best singer in the world, surprises everyone and does a magnificent job as Che. One of the few mainstream musicals produced in the 90's (I think the only other one was Woody Allen's "Everyone Says I Love You" in 1996).
