Man For All Seasons, a

Paul Scofield stars, in an excellent performance, as Sir Thomas Moore, an intellectual, free-thinking type. King Henry VIII wants to divorce his barren wife. The Pope won't approve of this, so Henry decides to kick the Catholic Church out of England and start a new one: the Church of England. Thomas Moore refuses to sign allegiance to this new church, so he is charged for treason and is sent to jail. This film is seemingly dull, yet it expresses one of the most prominent pieces of English history with accuracy and style. The scenery is just terrific! Especially for history buffs. It deservedly won six Oscars.
