I joined the 160th in January 2000, and after graduating from the Special Operations Training Company "Green Platoon" I was allowed to take my place as the NCOIC of the Rigger Facility. I ran the place until I was "promoted out", I was then assigned to the S-4 as a Logistician. During my tenure as a Rigger I deployed a few times on real-world and training missions. While in the S-4 I deployed as a "Loggy" for the unit many times. Though many of the unit's mission details are classified, I can say that they were instrumental in many of the countries homeland security and first strike missions. This is a very well trained unit which performs their mission in an outstanding manner. I am very grateful to have been an active member of such an elite force. The Riggers of the 160th are primarily responsible for the Airborne FARP. They plan and construct the pallet, then they jump with it as part of the FARP Team. In peace time, they also maintain and pack the parachutes for all the Regimental elements stationed at Ft Campbell. In war time, they have been cross trained and were used as Ammo handlers (MOS 89B), Petroleum Specialists (MOS 92F), and Aviation Operation Specialists (MOS 15P). Though the team is small when compared to other Rigger Support Teams that are attached to other Special Operations units, they perform the same functions and go the extra step of becoming part of the mission itself.
I Will Be Sure Always!
