Sarah Johnson played by: (daylilly74) Mrs. Sarah Johnson, the long-suffering housekeeper at Collinwood Estates, is a widow. Her husband died at sea working for the Collins family fishing fleet. A storm no one predicted came blowing up the coast and the fleet was caught off guard. Several of the ships did not make it home all those years ago. But Sarah, with her faith in God, raised her only son Harry the best she could. Sarah is not a demonstratively affectionate person, and she does not do well with raising Harry. He falls into the wrong crowd and makes her life and his own one of shame and regrets.

After her husband's death at sea, Sarah was forced to find a job. She worked for several shops in Collinsport until she became the housekeeper for Bill Malloy. Bill was also an employee of the Collins Cannery. She was quite happy working for Mr. Malloy. She could go to her own home every evening and have her personal things. But life was not good to Sarah Johnson. In 1966 Bill Malloy died unexpectedly and she was left again without a job.

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard had relied on Bill Malloy for years to help her with the day-to-day operations of the Cannery, even after her brother Roger came home. Elizabeth Stoddard sent for Sarah and asked her if she would come to work at the Great House for the family. Sarah, unsure but knowing that she needed a job, agreed. That was back in 1966 and now in 1971 she is still with the family and has seen many things. Most would have sent people running and screaming from the house. But Sarah followed Mrs. Stoddard's lead.

Sarah Johnson is a very opinionated woman and does not mind speaking her mind to Mrs. Stoddard or any other family member when the need arises. She has stood by her employer's side through many of the goings on at the great estate of Collinwood and is prepared to continue to stand beside Mrs. Stoddard and this family that has now become her own.
