Willie Loomis

Willie Loomis

played by: (purple_angelic)

Willie Loomis came to Collinsport five years ago with a fellow partner-in-crime, Jason McGuire, looking for easy money and trouble. He forced his way into Collinwood on Jason's "free meal" ticket, cashing in on Jason's black mailing Elizabeth Stoddard. Willie soon became the terror of Collinwood: he stole things, damaged Collins property and spoke and acted as if everything - and everyone - under the roof of the great mansion was his. He chased after the young women in the house, and on one occasion caused Carolyn Stoddard to feel the need to pull a gun on him to get him away from her. He hung out at the local bar and virtually every night came back utterly drunk and bloodied from some fist or knife fight in town. Eventually both

Roger and Elizabeth had had just enough of Willie's behavior and decided that their guest had overstayed his welcome.

On the night he was to leave Collinsport, a few tools from the shed on the estate disappeared with Willie Loomis. Before leaving, everyone had noticed Willie's fascination with a certain 18th century painting of a Collins ancestor hanging in the entryway of the mansion, especially the jewels he wore. What the family didn't realize was that when Willie disappeared, he had stumbled upon a family secret that had been lost and forgotten over time, receding into a black hole of memory with each generation. He had opened up a coffin and instead of finding jewels, found the quite animated and agile body of that Collins ancestor in the portrait. Willie unleashed a cursed vampire named Barnabas Collins.

Barnabas ingratiated himself with the present Collins family and Willie stayed on the Collins estate. He became a victim of Barnabas's curse and his slavery to the vampire was hidden beneath the guise that Willie now worked as a handyman at the much needed of restoring Old House. But Willie was never the same. Everyone noticed his personality had done a complete one-eighty. He was silent, secretive, nervous. He mumbled and stammered, and didn't look anyone in the face when he spoke with people. He often shied away from human contact with an animal fright in his eyes.

It was when Barnabas became infatuated with a local girl named Maggie Evans and forced Willie to aide in kidnapping and nearly destroying her life, he discovered something: love. He and Maggie became close during the ordeal of her month long imprisonment in the cellar of the Old house. Once Maggie escaped, Willie wrestled with his unrequited and unquenchable love for her. After Maggie was hospitalized under the watch of Dr. Julia Hoffman and was discovered to have mentally blocked out the whole experience, she began to lead a normal life and was lost to Willie forever.

But as time went on, through Willie's bouts between sanity and insanity, together he and Barnabas fought to find a middle ground. With Doctor Hoffman's help, Willie Loomis helped Barnabas find his humanity; then, eventually when Barnabas and Angelique reconciled, Barnabas became human again, and the kind gentleman he once was nearly 200 years before. This long road to help Mr. Collins achieve a cure for his curse brought Willie, Julia Hoffman and Barnabas into a tight friendship no one could sever nor undermine. Willie couldn't imagine ever leaving Collinwood nor ignore the bond that he has found with Mr. Collins. And Willie Loomis could never bear the thought of leaving the only girl he'd ever loved behind . . .
