Comments:

Absolute perfect recording of the benefit concert held in 1997 at the Royal Albert Hall for the victims of the volcano eruption on the island of Montserrat in June of the same year.  The concert was organized by Beatles producer Sir George Martin and Harvey Goldsmith, and had a most impressive line-up of artists.  Besides Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Arrow, Carl Perkins, Elton John, Sting and Paul McCartney, other contributors included Jools Holland, Ray Cooper, Ralph MacDonald, Robbie Greenwich, Dave Hartley, Ian Thomas and Chris Lawrence.  This recording covers almost the full concert, but it's too bad that Mark's Local Hero is missing, which was played before Brothers In Arms.

Mark brings excellent versions of Brothers In Arms and Money For Nothing, the latter together with Sting and Eric Clapton on second guitar. Mark can also be heard on Same Old Blues, Golden Slumbers, Hey Jude, Kansas City and on what is undoubtedly the most beautiful live version that I have ever heard of Layla.  Eric Clapton on acoustic guitar, accompanied by Mark on his electric Les Paul: absolutely breathtaking!  Concerts like this are unique and an absolute must for all fans.
