Let's Support Chevella L. ThomasFor Ms. NCCU Alumni 2005!
Dear NCCU Supporters, Friends, Alumni:
It is with sincere appreciation for my Alma Mater and its uncompromising commitment to service and scholarship that I enter the “Ms. Alumni” contest. The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Alumni Association will formally recognize the contestant that generates the largest amount of contributions for the scholarship fund during the half-time show of the Homecoming game, October 1, 2005. Contributions to this campaign will provide competitive scholarship opportunities for students pursuing academic studies at NCCU. For this purpose, I extend this invaluable opportunity to invest today in our leaders of tomorrow.
I am the daughter of James and Louise Thomas. However, I was reared by my Grandmother Vera R. Faulkner in Roxboro, NC. I moved to Durham, NC in August 1978 to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) degree in Management at NCCU. Furthering my education, I received a B.B.A. degree in Accounting, May 1, 2004 and I am currently enrolled in the School of Library and Information Sciences, Master of Information Sciences program at NCCU. I have been employed in the Division of Financial Affairs at North Carolina Central University for the last twenty years.
Possessing a grounded belief in the mission and motto of my Alma Mater, I currently serve as Chairman of the Athletic Committee and Member at Large of the Durham Alumni Chapter, President of the UNC Financial Systems Conference Board for the 16 member campuses, North Central Regional Representative of the Scholarship Board of Directors for the State Employees Association of NC (SEANC), Assistant Treasurer for the West Durham Baptist Church finance committee, Treasurer of the Eta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Treasurer of District 27 of SEANC, Shepard Society member at NCCU and Life Member of the National Alumni Association.
I, along with several prospective students seeking a competitive, affordable education, invite you to extend your “giving” to the North Carolina Central University Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. With your financial support, the Alumni Association can continue the tradition of assisting deserving students who aspire to attend NCCU.
I welcome your generous contribution of $100.00 in support of my ongoing initiative to increase funding for alumni scholarships and student aid. Please know, however, that any amount offered will be greatly appreciated. Your tax-deductible contribution should be made payable to the NCCU Foundation and mailed to the address below by September 9, 2005. Also, I invite you to have your employer match your gift. Please include the matching form with your contribution. Indicate on the check or money order memo line that your contribution supports the “Ms. Alumni Contest – Durham Chapter.”
Thank you for your continued support of NCCU and especially of the scholarship effort. I look forward to hearing from you!
