Wyatt played many roles, Farmer, buffalo hunter, Horse Thief, Section Hand, Saloonkeeper, Bunco Artist, Gambler,Prospector, Sportsman, and Lawman. Wyatt married in 1870, his wife died three and one-half years after the wedding. Wyatt traveled around after his wife's death, he hunted buffalo, got arrested in Indian Territory for stealing horses, then increasingly turned to gambling. In 1875, he took a job as a city policeman in Wichita, KA., he neglected to turn in fines he had collected from whores, he was also arrested for fighting, Wyatt was kicked off the police force and asked to leave town.In 1878, he assumed the position of assistant marshal and deacon of the Union Church in Dodge City. Wyatt left Dodge in September of 1879 and headed for Las Vegas, New Mexico, on the way he stopped in Mobeetie, Texas, where he was run out of town by deputy sheriff McIntire, for trying to work a "gold brick" swindle. Earp moved to Tombstone with his brothers James, Virgil and Morgan and their families. Wyatt was married to Mattie at the time (he deserted her in 1882, she committed suicide in Pinal Arizona July 3, 1888 at the age of thirty) Wyatt rode shotgun guard for Wells Fargo, he became deputy sheriff of Tombstone 1880, as well as part owner of the Oriental saloon. Mattie Wyatt had been in office for a year, when a feud developed between the Earps and the Clantons and McLaury brothers, possibly because the Earps were infringing on the stage robbing and cattle rustling activities. This led to the all time great O.K. Corral Gunfight, where two of the Clanton-McLaury brothers were killed, soon after the corral shooting, Virgil was shot in the arm and Morgan was shot in the back and died. Wyatt wondered through out the west. In 1882 he married Josephine (Josie) Sara Marcus in San Francisco California, they moved to Idaho in 1884, where he and brother James speculated in several mining claims, and became involved in an outfit which specialized in claim jumping. Wyatt and Josie moved to San Diego in 1896, where he was the referee for the Bob Fitzsimmons - Tom Sharkey prizefight (he was accused of throwing the fight to Sharkey).
