AcceptED Chapter 2: Fight for the Right

"Where is it?" CD asked outloud, rooting through a box. Set up on a desk, which was apparently part of her room, were an ant farm, a see-through model of a human, and an unplugged lamp. Boxes and bags were all over the room. Ignoring the crashing lightning outside, CD sorted through a shoebox.

"Why can I never find what I want to?" she complained. She looked around at all the opened boxes, and sighed. "I wonder if Double D has one" she muttered, walking out.

"The hypotenuse of a triangle is concurrent with" Edd muttered, reading from a mathematics book. He looked over to his desk as the phone began to ring. "Whoever that is should know its a health hazard to use a phone during a storm" Edd mumbled to himself, placing the book on his bedside table and walking over to the phone. He hesitated before picking up the receiver. "Double Ds house, Double D speaking"

"You know, you have such a cute way of answering the phone"

"H-hi CD" Edd gulped.

"I was wondering if you had a magnifying glass I could borrow" CD stated.

"Well yes, I do. But how would we make the exchange? Its practically a monsoon outside!" Edd exclaimed.

"I know where my raincoat is" CD said.

"CD, I couldnt ask you to-" Edd protested, although cut short.

"Double Deee, we only live side by side!" CD replied with a slight whine. She heard Edd swallow hard. "Ill see you in a few!"

"CD, wait!"

Click. Edd placed the phone back on the hook, then grabbed his magnifying glass and went downstairs to wait.

After a few minutes Edd jumped with surprise when his doorbell rang. He slid off the couch, walked over to the door, and turned the knob, swinging the door open. CD stood on the front stoop, wearing a slick, soaking raincoat. Edd moved to the side, and CD stepped in, taking off her shoes once inside and putting them on the little mat by the door.

"May I help you with your coat?" Edd asked, a slight quiver to his voice. CD nodded, and turned around. Edd slid the raincoat off her shoulders, then hung it on a hook by the door.

"You know, since 2 out of 4 are here, call Ed and Eddy and see if they can come over. I got a plan to propose" CD announced. "I would have done it myself, but I only know your phone number" she added, turning to walk upstairs.

"I know" Edd said quietly.

"Can you run it by me again?" Eddy requested.

"Kids love sports, right? My plan is to make sporting goods, then sell it to them as top of the line products" CD said with a slight sigh.

"And youre sure the kids will buy it?" Ed asked. CD nodded.

"Well, the plan cant be put into motion until the ground dries up" Edd commented, pointing outside. Although the rain had ceased, there were huge puddles everywhere.

"Stupid rain" Eddy grumbled. Suddenly they looked at the window as pebbles were thrown against it.

"Whos throwing those dirty pebbles at my window? Theyll leave unsightly smudges, not to mention crack the glass!" Edd whined.

"Hey honeybunches, can you come out to play?" cooed three scratchy voices. CD blinked in confusion, then looked at the Ed's. She found them reduced to a quivering pile.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"What's wrong?? Only that those are the Kanker Sisters!!" Eddy exclaimed.

"The Kanker Sisters are three ravenous females who wish to become our girlfriends!" Edd gulped.

"Huh." CD simply said. She started for the door.

"Where are you going?" Ed asked.

"To get a closer look" CD answered, before walking out. The trio of boys glanced at each other before getting up and hesitantly following.

"Who are you?" Lee asked, watching CD walk outside, and neatly jump over a puddle.

"My name is CD" she said, turning to face the Kanker Sisters.

"New girl, huh? Well, what are you doing in dreamy Double D's house?" Marie questioned, stepping forward.

"What's it to you?" CD replied. Marie growled. At this point, Ed, Edd, and Eddy peeked outside, then tip-toed out, standing behind CD.

"I think we have some competition!" May commented, snorting.

"That's your call" CD stated, shrugging slightly. "All I know is that you three are imposing on my friends' personal and private rights"

"Um, what?" May said, blinking in confusion.

"I've had enough!" Lee growled. "Get out of our way!" she ordered. CD crossed her arms.

"I want my love! Now move or I'll MAKE you!" Marie challenged. CD just glared in her direction. "Well?" Marie snarled.

"Leave" CD said in a low voice.

"I can see we'll have to do this the hard way" Lee said, slamming her fist into her opposite palm.

"So be it" CD said, in the same tone.

"CD---" Edd began.

"Don't worry Double D. These girls look like push-overs" CD said, glancing at Edd, as she jabbed a thumb in the Kankers' direction.

"That's it! No one calls me a push-over and gets away with it!" Marie roared. CD looked back at her.

"You can fight me if you wish, but I suggest we wait until it's drier out, so there won't be any unnecessary muddied clothes" she suggested, gesturing towards the several puddles that lay between the two groups alone. Marie and May looked at Lee, who nodded.

"Fine. Be here in 2 hours" Lee announced. "Come on girls" she sharply ordered, turning to walk off. As they did, CD turned her hat around, so the brim was casting a shadow over her face. The Ed's came out from behind her.

"Wow, that was amazing!" Eddy exclaimed.

"You hardly know us, and yet you stood up for us. I feel we owe you in some way" Edd commented. CD smiled at him, and shook her head.

"Well, I suppose I'd better be going off. I'll see you guys in a couple hours" CD said.

"I'll go get your things" Edd offered. He turned, and ran inside his house, returning shortly with CD's coat and the magnifying glass. CD slipped the coat off, and put the magnifying glass in her pocket. She pulled her hat down a little farther, and walked away. As she left, Edd caught the sight of blush in her cheeks, but said nothing. He just softly sighed.

"Watch out for flying chairs" Ed warned.

Exactly 2 hours later. Elongated shadows stretched down the cul-de-sac, which sent Jimmy running off, crying. The Kanker Sisters approached Edd's house, where CD and the Ed's were already waiting. The foursome watched the group approach.

"Are you sure you're ready?" Eddy asked. CD looked at him and nodded. Ed placed a hand on CD's shoulder, and she patted it, before she walked forward as the Kankers stopped at the edge of the yard. Ed, Edd, and Eddy backed up a few feet.

"Ready?" CD asked. Marie nodded, then stepped forward, sliding up a sleeve.

"Teach them a lesson CD!" Eddy cheered.

"Be careful!" Edd shouted. CD and Marie stood opposite each other in the grass.

"Begin!" Lee exclaimed. Marie formed a fist, and thrusted it towards CD. CD ducked, and pushed Marie forward, sending her stumbling. She skidded a bit in the wet grass, and ran for CD again. CD remained still until Marie came close, which was when she jumped down and swung a leg, tripped the blue-haired girl. CD then hurriedly placed a knee in the center of Marie's back, folded her arms back and held them with one hand, keeping her head down with the other.

"That was fast" Eddy commented.

"Tch, tch, tch. I thought such a tomboy would put up a better fight" CD teased. Marie struggled. CD applied a little pressure, then looked at May and Lee in silence. After a few moments she let Marie up, who went over to her sisters. CD glared at them until they turned and left. She then walked back to her friends, who met her halfway.

"That was amazing! Where'd you learn to fight like that?" Eddy asked.

"My old neighborhood" CD said.

"Did your old home have a bunch of mutant bugs to defeat with powerful blaster guns?" Ed questioned, blinking slowly.

"No Ed"

"Once again, I feel that we are in your debt" Edd said.

"Double D, don't worry about it" CD said. As they talked, the Kanker Sisters turned and glared towards the four of them.

"What'll we do about her?" May asked.

"Don't worryshe'll pay" Lee growled.

"Anyway, the sun's out, so let's go ahead and put our plan into motion" CD suggested.

"Finally!" Eddy happily exclaimed.

"Ooh ooh! I wanna get the bubble wrap!" Ed cried out ecstatically.

"I suppose I'll find the tape" Edd sighed.

"I'll get the pillow stuffing" CD volunteered.

"And I'll supervise" Eddy said, throwing out his chest a little. CD rolled her eyes. The group began to separate. As Edd started for inside his home, he glanced at CD and sighed dreamily. After a moment of watching her, he turned, and went inside his house. CD paused, and glanced over her shoulder, to where Edd had been only moments before. She smiled to herself before continuing on home.
