Episode 12 - No Need For Love

The Eds and the 2 girls (Joanie and Cherri) decided to see a movie. Edd forgot to buy the tickets for the movie, and had to go get some. When he bought the tickets, he met someone new. A girl named Alex. And (maybe by coincidence) she was about to see the same movie as he was. Not only that, on their way back, Alex told Edd that she lived in the same cul-de-sac as he did - she was moving-in in a few days. When Ed, Eddy, Cherri, and Joanie find Edd coming back home in the cul-de-sac, they see Alex. They introduce themselves, and head off for the movie. Although, in the theater, the girls start to have a competition for who’s to sit next to Edd. Edd thinks of a solution. At that same moment, the girls were thinking up a plan to make Edd like them . . .
The next day came. It was moving day for Alex to move in the cul-de-sac. The Eds saw again one more girl moving in. Edd started to wonder how 3 girls ended up in the same cul-de-sac where he lives in, and that they all love him. He kept thinking about it, until Alex stopped his thoughts. "Hey Double D!" Alex called out, "Would you mind if you helped us move my stuff in the house?" Edd, being his polite self, answered with a "yes."
Ed and Eddy were passing by. They saw Edd trying to lift a heavy box in front of Edd.
"He's just carrying a box Ed," Eddy corrected.
When Edd put the box down, Ed then saw him. "No he's not Eddy," Ed said, "He's sitting behind it."
"Whatever," Eddy said.
Eddy walked up to Edd. "What are you doing Double D?" Eddy asked.
"I'm just helping Alex move some of her boxes," Edd answered, fanning himself with his hand. "Are you guys going to help me?" Edd asked.
"Oh I will Double D!" Ed said excitedly, "Because 'A' is for helping which comes from a tree!" Ed grabbed the boxes in one hand, and held Edd in the other. Ed ran in and out of the house, and in a matter of half an hour, Alex's moving was done.
"Thanks Ed," Alex thanked.
Later that day, the Eds and the 3 girls went out to the candy store, and bought jawbreakers. They acted like it was a celebration for the 3 girls' arrival.
While they were eating their jawbreakers, the Eds thought of something. "Hey girls," Eddy asked.
"Yes?" the girls answers in unison.
"Do you girls have something like a nickname for yourselves?" Eddy asked curiously.
"Give us some time to think about it," Joanie said.
The 3 girls huddled together, whispering. A few moments later, they told their answer to the Eds. "We've came up with a group name for ourselves," Cheri said.
"Yeah," Alex agreed,
"We're to be called, 'The Cuties.'"
Edd chuckled. "I think that it's a 'cute' name." Edd chuckled more, and said to himself, "I couldn't resist." The rest of them thought it was funny too, and all 6 of them laughed.
The 6 friends then went to many places after the candy store. They took a walk through the Peach Creek Mall and bought some items, and went to the playground and played around. It was starting to get dark, so they started to go back to the cul-de-sac.
On their way back, the "Cuties" walked not far behind the Eds. They had their eyes set on Edd. They all gave a loving sigh at him. "Don't you think that Double D's so cute?" Joanie asked.
"He's more than cute," Alex said, agreeing with Joanie, "And I love the way he tells jokes."
"Oui," Cheri agreed, "He's tres mignon. He's just too cute for me."
"For us you mean," Joanie corrected. The 3 of them gave one more loving sigh, and continued on their way.
Back in the cul-de-sac, it was already evening. The Eds and Cuties gave each other "good nights."
"Night girls," Eddy said.
"Good morning," Ed said.
"Good night," Edd said.
"Nighty-night," Alex said.
"Sleep tight," Joanie said.
"Bonsoir," Cheri said.
And the Cuties all winked and smiled at Edd. Edd saw them and smiled shyly. The 3 Eds then left, and headed for their houses, leaving the Cuties at their houses.
"Getting quick of the girls there Double D?" Eddy asked.
Edd ducked his head. "I-I don't k-know what y-you mean Eddy," Edd stammered, really knowing what Eddy meant.
Ed joined in Eddy's joke. "Aww," Ed teased, "Double D's got girlfriends."
"Three of 'em Ed," Eddy said. Ed and Eddy laughed. "Are you in love too Double D?" Eddy asked.
Edd gulped and answered, "W-well, yes I do, but-"
"See Ed," Eddy interrupted, "Double D likes them too." The 2 of them laughed more. Edd was teased the rest of their way.
The next day, it was so hot outside. Edd thought if what Ed and Eddy said the other night was true. "Well," Edd said to himself, "I do in fact have a feeling in me kind of like a bond whenever I see the Cuties and when they speak and come near me." Edd thought of it for a few more minutes. Then, it came to him. "Oh my!" Edd exclaimed, "Can it be? Can this be true . . . that I . . . Edd . . . , Double D . . . , be in . . . in . . . l-love?" Edd then almost fainted, but for some reason, smiled. "I think it must be," Edd said, "Either that or it's the day's heat. But, I've been having this feeling before today too. So, I guess it must be love."
Just then, Edd heard a knock on his front door. Edd answered it. It was the Cuties. "Hi Double D!" they greeted.
Edd blushed. "Hello girls," Edd greeted, and invited the girls in. It was a bit cooler in Edd's house than outside under the hot sun. "Would you girls like a beverage?" Edd asked.
"Okay, sure Double D," the Cuties answered.
Edd went in the kitchen to get them their drink. Right after Edd went in the kitchen, there was another knock on the door. "Don't worry Double D," Joanie said, "We'll get it."
The Cuties went over to the door, and answered it. It was Ed and Eddy. "Wrong house Eddy," Ed said, thinking that the Cuties lived there instead of Edd.
"No Ed," Eddy corrected, "Double D's just somewhere inside the house."
"That's right Eddy," Cheri said, agreeing with Eddy.
"Yeah," Joanie agreed, "Double D's in the kitchen."
"He's getting us some drinks," Alex continued.
Edd heard that Ed and Eddy were there, so, he got 3 more sodas out from his refrigerator. He then brought them to his friends, and they were relaxed by the drinks. Soon, the girls had finished theirs. Edd was being his polite self, and went to get them a refill. The Cuties said that he didn't need to go, and they said, "We'll just help ourselves if that's okay with you Double D." Edd nodded. He still needed to finish his drink, which was starting to lose its coolness.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the Cuties were looking in Edd's refrigerator for some soda. They couldn't find anymore. But, it was then that they saw a kind of drink. They decided to have that drink.
When they got back to continue talking with the Eds, Edd looked at the Cuties' drink. It didn't look like any ordinary soda that he's tried before, but it was very familiar to him. Ed and Eddy soon noticed too. They thought for a while as the Cuties drank. Finally it came to them. "I remember that now!" Edd said, "It's the-"
"Hi Double D," the Cuties said in a loving voice.
Edd gulped, and continued on what he was saying, "The love formula that we worked on before the Cuties came in the cul-de-sac."
"What do you mean we Double D?" Eddy said, "You're the one who made that drink!"
"And you're the one who wanted to use it!" Edd argued. "I'm the one who sold it," Ed said, "Because I'm Ed!" "Stop your fighting boys," the Cuties said in loving voices, "We love you, and we know you guys won't fight against each other." "Double D?" Eddy asked Edd.
Without Edd being able to respond, the Cuties answered instead. "Oh we love Double D. Most of all." Edd blushed.
"Why not give them the antidote drink Double D?" Eddy suggested. "I can't Eddy," Edd answered. "Why not?" Eddy asked.
"B-because we sold them all," Edd said, "A-and I kind of lost the list on how to make the antidote."
"So the Cuties are stuck like this?" Eddy asked.
"Yes," Edd answered, "But, fortunately, it will naturally wear down in a gradual way."
"But we're too young to graduate," Ed said.
"We love you Double D," the Cuties said, hugging Edd. Edd blushed. "Well," Edd said, hugging the Cuties back, "It appears that I'm the one who's popular." Edd chuckled. "I love you too girls," Edd said.
