An Edd-mas Carol
by: Double T
"Come on! Come on!" Eddy whispered to himself, staring at the clock. He was waiting for the bell to ring. It was their last day of class before Christmas break. Ed, sitting nearby Eddy, looked at him. Edd, sitting behind Ed didnt notice anything much. He was preoccupied reading one of his books. "Double D," Ed whispered, "Why is Eddy acting like that again?" Edd looked. "Eddys always like that before holiday vacations Ed," he answered, turning a page, "He wants the school bell to ring, dismissing us to go and have a time-off from school. And Eddy wants that to happen quickly." Ed thought for a moment, and said, "Eddy should eat more vegetables Double D." Meanwhile, Eddy still stared at the clock, ignoring everything else. "Ring!" Eddy thought, "Ive got pigeons back in the cul-de-sac to scam for money!" But at the moment, he didnt realize that the class teacher, Miss Dril, was calling him. Eddy then got a tap on his shoulder from Ed. Eddy got back to reality, and Miss Dril called him to do his report on "The Meaning Of Christmas To Me." Eddy got nervous. He had forgotten about his report, but he walked as slowly as he can in front of the class, still looking at the clock. It was just 1 more minute until 3:00. At the front, Eddy tried to make his introduction. "I did a report on what the meaning of Christmas," Eddy said slowly, with frequent looks at the clock with the corner of his eye, "And this report is on how the meaning of Christmas is how I think about it. And the meaning of Christmas to me is-" RING!!! The bell rang just at the moment he was about to think of his whole report. Everyone but Ed, Edd, and Eddy, left. Eddy sighed with relief, and said to himself, "This was close." "Well Eddy," Miss Dril said, "I guess that means that you have all of Christmas break to practice your oral report." "But," Eddy tried to explain, "Christmas will be over by then!" "Your grade depends on it," Miss Dril said, "Have a great Christmas break boys." Miss Dril then left. Eddy sighed and said, as Miss Dril walked out of the room, "Alright Miss Dril." The Eds were walking back to their cul-de-sac, when Edd asked, "When are you going to start practicing on your report Eddy?" "My report?" Eddy asked, "You are the smart one Double D, and I am the one who does the thinking to our scams." "What am I?" Ed asked. "Youre Ed," Eddy said. "I cant do your whole report Eddy," Edd said, "But Ed and I could help you with it." "What you could help me with is that you put up our scams for Christmas," Eddy said, "Everyone will fall for our scams during the holidays. Big pay roles this time of year Double D." "And you want to keep it that way," Edd concluded, "Right Eddy?" "Right, schmight," Eddy said, "As long as everyone will fall for our Christmas scams." A few days have passed by. Eddy pulled a lot of his scams to the other kids in the cul-de-sac. This time, it worked. On Christmas Eve, he had gained about nearly $5.00. Although, he did it mostly by himself, with about one or two scams with Ed and Edd. Soon, Edd had to tell him something. "Eddy," Edd began, "How about taking a little break for a while from scamming. Isnt that what you believed what a break is? No working and scamming?" Eddy just held his jar of money close to him, not answering. Edd decided to get to the point. "In case you havent realized Eddy," Edd said, "On Christmas, there will be a party at Rolfs house." Eddy started to think about it. Then Eddy smiled slyly, saying, "Can-" "No you cant trick everyone with holiday scams at the Christmas party," Edd said, barely realizing that he had interrupted Eddy, "And besides, you have a report due when we g back to school." "Well then," Eddy said, "More jawbreakers for me then. For me and this cash." Eddy then started to walk towards the candy store. "Eddy," Edd said, "The candy stores closed now." And with that, Eddy turned to go back to his house, ignoring Edds statement about the closed candy store. "Then you can forget about helping me with my scams!" Eddy yelled back. On his way, Eddy kept muttering to himself. "That Double D," he muttered quietly, "He thinks he knows everything." He then looked at his jar of coins in it. "And he thinks he can tell everyone what to do. Yeah, right." Eddy continued until he reached in his house. He placed his jar down on the table near his bed. "Double D must think that Im some sort of Scrooge or something," Eddy continued, "As if I am a Scrooge." Eddy yawned and saw on the floor, a book. He picked it up. "A Christmas Carol?" Eddy read, and he browsed through the book. "This must be Double Ds book," Eddy said, "Maybe because he wants to remind me of me being some Scrooge." Eddy soon went to bed, and fell asleep. As he did, he kept talking quietly to himself, complaining about Edd. But soon, his thoughts were interrupted. "Eddy!" said a familiar voice. Eddy woke up, and looked around. "Eddy!" said the voice again. Eddy thought for a while, and said to himself, "Is that-" "Ow!" said the voice. It was coming from his wall. After a few bumps and "ow"s, Eddys door started to open. Eddy became a bit scared as the door opened up slowly, and he placed his pillow over his head. "Hi Eddy!" said the voice. Eddy removed the pillow to see who it was. "Ed?" Eddy asked, wondering why Ed was in his house, "What are you doing in my house?" Ed thought for a while. "Um," Ed started, "I forget." Eddy just stared, and noticed a piece of paper from Eds pocket. "Whats that Ed?" he asked. Ed looked, and grabbed the paper. "Oh yeah!" Ed said, "This is what I was supposed to tell you Eddy." Ed read what the paper said.
To Eddy:
You should stop your scams for at least this time of year. Its Christmas. After Christmas, we can resume our schemes, okay? Of course.
Yours Truly,
Double D
"Double D told you to say that?" Eddy asked angrily. Ed nodded. Eddy growled and said, "Well Eddy doesnt give up scams that easy, Ed! What next? 3 ghosts will visit me?" "Nope," Ed said, "Theres 4 that will come Eddy." "Four?" Eddy asked. Ed nodded. Ed sniffed around. "Buttered toast!" he yelled, and ran out the door to get some. "Ed?" Eddy asked as Ed left, but Ed had already left. "Never mind," Eddy said, and got back to sleep. It wasnt long until Eddy got up again. Eddy looked up at his alarm clock. "2 in the morning," he said, "Ed was wrong by those 4 ghosts coming. Like thatll happen." He started to go to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Eddy was a bit sleepy, and didnt mind the "creeking" noises in his house - he took it as his own steps making the noise. After Eddy got a drink, he looked at his refrigerator. He thought of making a snack. "I hope Ed didnt eat out of my refrigerator like last time when he left," he said, as he got a small sandwich. When Eddy was about to eat the sandwich, he heard those "creeking" noises again. And he starting to know that it wasnt he, who make them. "I think Eds lost in my house," Eddy thought, and decided to go look for Ed. "Ed?" Eddy called out, and walked for about 5 minutes around his house, but with no sign of Eds presence. As he continued to hear the noises, Eddy started to worry that it might be the Kankers, but he still doubted it. "But they live at the trailer park," Eddy said to himself, "They cant be here." "Wanna bet?" said a voice, which sounded like May Kanker. Eddy began to back up to a wall, scared that the Kankers are in his house. "Its just my mind playing tricks on me," Eddy assured himself, "Yeah, thats it." He started to go back to his room, but when he opened the door, he saw the Kankers there. "Hi Eddy," they greeted. Eddy was about to go away, but Marie rushed out in front of him, blocking his way. "How come youre here?" Eddy asked. "Well," Lee explained, "were here to tell you about Christmas Love." Eddy got even more scared, and backed up onto a corner farthest from the Kankers. "Love is something you really like," May said. "Like us loving you Eddy," continued Lee. "But that doesnt mean that I love you too," Eddy said, "My love is money." "But not always," Marie said. "Whats that supposed to mean?" Eddy asked, starting to get a bit annoyed. "You liked a lot of things besides money when you were younger," Lee said. "But, how do you know that?" Eddy asked, "When I was a kid, you didnt even live in Peach Creek yet." "Hey!" Lee shouted, "Whos telling the story here?" After a few moments, Lee continued. "You used to like-" Ding! Ding! Ding! "Oh great," Marie said sarcastically, "Our time is up." "We didnt get to say all those things, because you kept going away from us," said May. "Oh well," Lee said, "You know what they are anyway Eddy." And with that, the Kankers just left out the door, blowing Eddy a kiss. "Merry Christmas Eddy!" they all said. Eddy just stood in one spot for a while, shivering from the thought the Kankers told him. "They scare me more than ever now," he said to himself. Eddy then began to think about what he was told earlier. "Hmm," he said to himself, "I wonder if the Kankers count as 3 or just one. Oh well, whats going to happen anyway? A note falling on me, telling me the real number? Ill give a quarter if that happened." Eddy walked over to his bed, and began to go back to sleep. Just about a few seconds later, something was on his face. "What the?" he said, scrambling his arms around his face, and almost fell over his bed. Finally, he grabbed hold of the object. It was a piece of paper, and Eddy began to read it.
To Eddy:
The Kankers count as 3.
- Ed
"Well," Eddy said, "Thats a load off my mind." Then Eddy remembered his statement about what he said earlier. "Uh," he started, "Can I take back that thing I said about giving a quarter for a note falling on me?" "Sure Eddy," said someone, "But its May I, not Can I." Eddy knew who that would be. "Double D!" he shouted, "I thought I told you not to help me with any more scams with me again!" "But its Christmas Eddy," Double D said. "So?" Eddy said, "What do you want me to do, huh? Give you a jawbreaker for the holidays?" "You dont need to Eddy," Double D explained, "Im just here to tell you about the joy of Christmas." "Not again," Eddy thought. Edd began explaining to Eddy about the spirit of Christmas. "Giving joy and peace?" Eddy asked. "Of course Eddy," Edd said, reaching in his pocket, and pulled out two jackets. "Here Eddy," Edd said, handing Eddy a jacket, "Put this on." "Why?" Eddy asked, taking the jacket, but he hesitated to put it on. "Go on Eddy," Edd insisted, without giving Eddy an answer. After a while, Eddy finally put on the jacket. "Lets go Eddy," Edd said, opening Eddys door. "Where?" Eddy asked. "Were going to see just how everyone is doing before the Christmas party," Edd explained, "And maybe it could help you on your report." "Yeah, right," Eddy said to himself, walking outside. It was very cold outside, and even with a jacket on, Eddy felt cold. Edd didnt seem to be bothered by the temperature. "How can he not feel so cold?" Eddy thought, chatting his teeth. After a while, they stopped at one house. It was Rolfs. Eddy didnt think it was Rolfs because his house didnt look like before when they had Christmas in July. It looked like any other house with Christmas decorations; lights, yard decors, etc. "Is this where the partys going?" Eddy asked. "Take a look and see for yourself Eddy," Edd said, showing Eddy a window. Eddy looked in, and saw Christmas decorations almost everywhere in the house. "What do you think Eddy?" Edd asked. "A little too much Christmas stuff," Eddy answered, "Thats what." "Look closely Eddy," Edd said. Eddy looked again, with his face nearly touching on the window. Inside, Eddy saw Rolf and some of the other kids decorating the tree. It seemed like everyone was having the party decorating than Eddy had suspected for the real party the next night. "Over to you Rolf!" Kevin called out, tossing an ornament to Rolf. Rolf caught it, and placed it on the tree. Jonny and Plank put one up too. The ornament looked a bit like a small jawbreaker. "Nice form, huh Plank?" Jonny said, looking at the ornament. Sarah and Jimmy were putting up some of the garland on the tree. Sarah was standing on a small ladder, hanging up the garlands, while Jimmy stood on the floor, holding and giving Sarah the garland. Sarah placed a piece of the garland on the wall, but it slipped off, landing on Jimmy. After a few seconds, Jimmy sneezed, and told Sarah that he was okay. "There," Sarah said, hanging up that same last length of garland on the wall. She jumped down, and asked Jimmy if they would go wrap some gifts for the other kids. "Okay," Jimmy said excitedly, and they went to get the gift wrap. Meanwhile, Edd and Eddy were watching, outside. "See Eddy?" Edd asked, showing Eddy the inside of the window. "'See what' Double D?" Eddy asked, just looking quickly at the window. "Look closely Eddy," Edd explained, "Don't you see the Christmas spirit in everyone?" Eddy looked again, but didn't see just how happy everyone is, putting up decorations, practicing carols, and wrapping gifts. "So?" Eddy said. Edd sighed. "Perhaps an example will help explain this to you, Eddy," he said, and walked to another window. Eddy followed. In the other window, they saw Sarah and Jimmy wrapping some gifts for the other kids. "There," Jimmy said, just finishing up wrapping a present. As he handed it to Sarah, he sneezed. "I think you're getting a cold Jimmy," Sarah said worriedly, "You've been sneezing a lot tonight." "But it's Christmas!" Jimmy said sadly, afraid of missing the party the next day. "Don't worry Jimmy," Sarah said assuringly, patting Jimmy hand, "Maybe by the party tomorrow, you'll be better." Edd and Eddy, outside, watched. "And?" Eddy asked. "Don't you see Eddy?" Edd asked. "See what?" Eddy asked, starting to get a bit annoyed by Edd's questions, "All I see is Sarah and Jimmy talking to each other." "Here's the overview Eddy," Edd explained, "Sarah cares for Jimmy, and it seem more than ever." "What does that have to do with me?" Eddy asked. Edd found it simple to explain. "You and your solo scams?" he said, "Or you and our partnership?" Edd has given Eddy a choice. Eddy paused, not even thinking of an answer. Eddy still didnt see how his scams relate to Sarah and Jimmys friendship. "Sarah and Jimmy cares for each other," Edd explained, "And you care about either scams, or our partnerships; you choose Eddy. Just look at Sarah and Jimmy, and decide your choice." Eddy looked again. Edd then thought of an idea, and told Eddy, "If it helps Eddy, think of your solo scams, and the scams the Eds have done. Which is a bit more successful, Eddy?" It was then Eddy realized that he has been a bit more egotistical than ever before. He soon got a bit upset and a bit guilty, but he didnt show it as much in front of Edd. Edd seemed to understand just how Eddy felt. "It seems that you have your report done, I see," Edd said, trying to help Eddy cheer up a bit. Eddy then remembered his Christmas report, due the next time they come back to class! "My Christmas report!" Eddy exclaimed, "But I havent even started working on it yet, Double D!" "Yes you did, Eddy," Edd reassured him, "Just remember that Christmas is about giving joy, peace on Earth, and caring about those you really care about. Theres your report, Eddy. All you have to do now, is write it down, and explain it a bit." Eddy got his report thoughts off his back a bit, but then thought, "What about everyone else?" Edd knew what Eddy was trying to ask. "Everyone wont mind, Eddy," he explained, "Just go lightly on the scams during Christmastime, and you can go back to yourself afterwards." Eddy, happy to know a meaning of Christmas, looked back at the window. "Yeah," he said, "I guess youre right." "Thats the spirit!" Edd said, happy to see Eddy knew one thing about Christmas, besides going overboard with his scams. "That gives me a few days more to think of more scams next year too," Eddy said. "Well," Edd thought to himself, "At least hes not over doing it for now." Edd was going to tell Eddy one more thing, but then . . . Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! The clock inside chimed. "Its the clock," Edd said. "So?" Eddy asked, looking at the clock. There was no answer from Edd, and it wasnt long for Eddy to notice that. "Double D?" he asked, turning. Edd was no longer with him. All Eddy saw was a pair of tracks in the snow, but it was too dark for Eddy to see where it lead. "Double D must have gone home," Eddy wondered, and he started to walk back to his house, which he could find his way back. Back in his room, Eddy thought about what he was told that night, but soon fell to sleep. The next day, Ed and Edd snuck into Eddys room. Eddy was still asleep, but was soon awakened when Ed and Edd jumped on his bed, yelling, "Merry Christmas, Eddy!" Eddy was bounced out of bed. "Come on, Eddy," Edd said, "Dont you want to go to the party tonight?" "But its still morning, Double D," Eddy explained. "Its actually noon, Eddy," Edd corrected, "The party starts in about 4 hours." "4 hours?!" Eddy yelled, "Come on! I still have to do my Christmas shopping!" Eddy changed his clothes quickly, grabbed Ed and Edd, and ran out the door. Ed and Edd were being dragged along. "Is Eddy okay, Double D?" Ed asked. "This is quite intriguing Ed," Edd said, "Eddy normally detests Christmas shopping." Meanwhile, everyone else in the cul-de-sac went over to Rolfs house. "Has anyone seen Dork, Dork n Dorky around?" Kevin asked, just noticing the Eds werent around. Everyone looked around. "Ed-boys must be thinking of their next scrams," Rolf suggested. "Scams, Rolf," Kevin corrected. "Do they really need to come to the party?" Sarah asked, "They might ruin this Christmas party just like they wrecked Jimmys Birthday party." Jimmy, standing next to Sarah, started to cry. "Oh, the torment," he sobbed. "I think you should give those guys a chance," Nazz said, "Besides, its Christmas." "Fine," everyone agreed flatly. Minutes before the party started, the Eds were back from their Christmas shopping. "These . . . presents . . . are . . . heavy, Eddy!" Edd said, strugling to hold a bunch of gift boxes as tall as he is. "Help him, Ed," Eddy said. "Your wish is my lunch," Ed said, and grabbed the gifts, along with Edd. "Come on," Eddy told them, "We can still make it to the party." Ed and Edd were still wondering why Eddy had a sudden change to him. Down at the party, the Eds slammed open the door. "Happy holidays, everyone!" Eddy shouted out. Everyone decided to give the Eds greetings too. "Greetings of the Seasons, Ed-boys," Rolf said. "Merry Christmas, guys," Nazz said. "Christmas cheers!" Jimmy said. Even Kevin gave a little greeting. "Happy holidays," he said, then muttered quietly to himself, "Dorks." Eddy snapped his fingers, and Ed came in, holding the gifts, still with Edd in the pile. "I have presents for everyone," Eddy said, handing out the gift boxes to everyone. Everyone gave their thanks, and opened their presents to see what they got. Jimmy got some new tweezers. Jonny got some new sunscreen; for the summer, and Plank got wood garnish. Kevin got a bike lock. Nazz got some new herbal-scented shampoo. Rolf got some animal feed. Sarah got a new diary. Everyone was really happy for their gifts, and they had gifts for the Eds too; jawbreakers! The Eds were so happy to have jawbreakers for Christmas. Eddy then remembered his gifts for Ed and Edd. "Here," Eddy said, grabbing the last two gift boxes, "I got these for you, guys." Ed and Edd grabbed their gifts. Ed was so excited. "Whatd I get? Whatd I get?" he said excitedly, unwrapping his gift. Edd, with his careful self, unwrapped the gift slowly. When they finished unwrapping, Ed got a new comic. "Its the sequel to The Curse of Evil Tim!" he exclaimed, "Evil Tim Versus Bad Bunny! Thanks Eddy!" Edd got a new labeler. "Why, thank you, Eddy," Edd said happily, "I needed a new labeler; my last ones nearly vacant." Edd still wondered at one more thing. "But how did you get all the money to purchase all these items?" he asked. "I told my brother to get these last night for me," Eddy explained, "I think I owe him." Just then the telephone rang. Rolf answered it. "Hello?" he asked. The receiver talked. "Sure," Rolf said, and gave the phone to Eddy, "Here, Ed-boy. It is your long-gone sibling." "Sibling?" Eddy asked. "I think he means your brother, Eddy," Edd suggested. Eddy talked to the phone, realizing now who it was. "Hey bro!" Eddy said. "Hey Eddy," Eddys brother said on the other line. "Thanks for getting those gifts ready." "No problem, little man. Just remember if you need any merchandise, just ask me, okay?" "Sure. Can you get us some jawbreakers?" "Anything but that Eddy." "Oh. Listen. How much do I owe ya?" "Its Christmas; you dont owe me anything." "Cool! Uh . . . thanks." "Merry Christmas to your little friends and to you, Eddy." "Merry Christmas." "See ya." "Bye, big-bro." Eddy hung up, and gave the phone back to Rolf. "I dont owe him a anything," Eddy said, "He also said you guys were little." He gave a little snicker. Everyone enjoyed the rest of the party, and the rest of their vacation. Back in school, their teacher, Miss Dril, asked if everyone enjoyed their holiday break. Everyone agreed, but most wished for a longer one. "We also have a belated report by Eddy," Miss Dril said, and called Eddy up. "Eddy?" Edd asked, "Arent you worried?" "For what, Double D?" Eddy asked back, knowing what Edd was talking about, "I have the report right here." Eddy reached into his book bag, and rummaged around for it. Eddy just realized something. He looked into his book bag, and couldnt find his report. "Oh, man," he said. "Eddy?" Miss Dril asked, "Are you ready for your report?" Eddy walked up in front of the class. "Um . . . " Eddy, began, stammering, stalling for the bell to ring.
The End.
