Disipite getting a number of `name' actors to star in this movie, it didn't appear to be all that well made. Basicly, it looks like it was a very B-grade script someone has tried to upgrade to the popular market after the sucess of "seven" at the movies.
I guess the fact that it was never realsed in the theaters would tell us, that it wasn't a particularly good movie. (At least it wasn't here in New Zealand :). Nick Nolte, in particular, didn't seem to gell in his character as the police dective. Considering how good an actor Ewan is, his perormance in this movie is oddly on the bad side.
The only time his perfance seems to be out right bad, is when faced with the dead bodies in the morgue. I mean, his character knew his job was at the morgue, so he knew there was going to be dead bodies there. And, as a result, he must have knowen that there would been the occastional murder / accident victum as well. It seemed to me, the director decided that Ewan's charcter was *extremly* upset around the corpses. And so he has made Ewan act oddly when he is supposed to be surrounded by the corpses, which just doesn't work.
But the rest of his performance, is good. Certainly he and Josh Brolin are the best things in the movie. With Josh Brolin playing Ewan's characters best friend the movie is watchable. Just don't expect it to be nearly as good or scary as "seven" was.
