Sonic the (Animal)

Way, way back, in the year (A Year), Sega decided that they needed a new mascot to launch their new system, the (A Noun). They wanted their new game to be faster-moving than anything else on the market at the time, so they chose a/an (Same Animal) because it is well-known that they can roll up into a (Geometric Shape). They made him (Colour), gave him red-and-white (Article of Clothing (Plural)) on his feet, white gloves on his (Part of the Body (Plural)), and an extremely (Adjective) attitude.
And so a star was born. Sonic the (Same Animal), with his (Adjective) spines and his incredible speeds of up to (Distance) per hour, was an instant hit. His first game--widely considered to be more (Adjective) than the others--showed our hero travelling through areas such as the (Colour) Hill Zone, the (Substance) Zone, and the (Noun) Yard Zone, among others. He was on a quest to rescue his animal friends from the (Adjective) clutches of the evil Dr. (Famous Male), or, as he was originally called in (Country), Dr. (Food)man. It would be the first of MANY such quests.
Because the game was such a hit, Sega then released a sequel (Amount of Time) later, called, of course, "Sonic (Number)". In this game, we were introduced to a new character--Miles "(Part of Body (Plural))" Prower, a cute little orange (Animal) who tagged along after Sonic everywhere he went and ccould fly (and later also (Verb)) using his two (same body part, plural). Sonic also got a new move in his arsenal--the (Verb)-Dash, which enabled him to rev up in one spot and then (Verb) straight into the enemies at incredible speed. This time around, our heroes were not ONLY out to stop Dr. (Robotnik's name), but also collect all (Number) (Abstract Noun) Emeralds. (Well, actually this was in the first game too but I forgot to mention it.)
If he collected all the (Same Abstract Noun) Emeralds, Sonic could now transform into (Adjective) Sonic, and become so fast and powerful he's almost (Adjective). Together, the two best buds travelled through areas such as the (Noun) Plant, the (Adjective) Ruin, the (Liquid) Ocean and the (Part of the Body) Fortress, until the BIG confrontation with (Robotnik's Name) at the end.
Since this game was ALSO a success, Sega decided to release a Sonic title on their new CD system, imaginatively titled, "Sonic CD". In this game, Sonic went journeying to a strange miniature world called (Place). Here the players also met another new character: Amy (Flower), a little girl pink (Same Animal as Sonic) with a major crush on Sonic, weird (Adjective) abilities, and really, really, REALLY bad taste in clothes. (Although she got a Fashion Clue in 1998.) She also, in later games, acquired a giant magical (Noun) that she could use to defend herself.
This game also marked the dramatic entrance of a new villian, (Material), or "Mecha" Sonic, a robotic version of the (Sonic's colour) (Sonic's Species), with glowing red eyes and a/an (Adjective) personality to match. Almost everyone's favourite part of this game is when Sonic and Mecha race on the (Substance) Speedway.
That same year, two cartoon series about Sonic were launched in America--one was shown on Saturday mornings and was JUST called "Sonic the (Sonic's Species)"; the other showed every (Period of Time) and was called "The (Plural Noun) of Sonic the (Sonic's Species)". Most fans consider the former cartoon to be the better by far, with its (Adjective Ending in "er") tone and its more (Adjective) writing. It introduced new characters such as the (Personality Trait) Princess (Famous Female), the likeable Bunnie Rabbot, with her (Adjective) limbs and her (Region) accent, Rotor the (Animal), and the much-disliked (Famous Male), a cowardly (Animal).
In this cartoon, the main group of animals called themselves the "Freedom (Verb)ers", and were always trying to take the throne of (Silly Word), their planet, back from the evil usurper, Dr. (Robotnik's name). The other cartoon was much sillier and had far fewer recurring characters. The only two of note are (Verb), a/an (Animal)-bot, and Grounder, a (Noun), both of whom were very annoying. Neither cartoon was very successful as they only lasted (Amount of Time) each. But they were the springboard for two very (Adjective) comic-book series, one about Sonic and one about (Part of the Body (Plural)), the (Animal), which introduced even MORE new characters--such as (Famous Male) the skunk, Archimedes the (Insect), (Brand of Candy) the Cat, and (Female First Name with Two Syllables)-(Female First Name with ONE Syllable) (Same species as Knuckles) among many others. It also allowed the writers to take the characters in directions they had never gone before--for example, Princess (Sally's name) was almost (Verb, Past Tense) to her death and (Personality Trait) Bee turned out to be the (Title) of the Bee Kingdom! And that's just for starters...
Meanwhile, back in the game world, a great 2-game epic was released, in which Sonic and (Tails' Body Part) travelled to a whole new location, the Floating (Noun), and met another very important new character, (Knuckles' Body Part), a red (Knuckles' Species) who had long, flowing dreadlocks, spiked fists which allowed him to (Verb) walls, and who could glide (Adverb) through the air for no apparent reason. He was the (Title) of the Floating (same noun) and, as such, it was his duty to protect the Master (Noun) from all intruders. Due to Dr. (Robotnik's name)'s lies, the fierce yet gullible (Knuckles' species) fought (Adverb) against Sonic and (Tails' Body Part) through most of the two games--dumping them into deadly (Plural Noun), making the floor they were standing on (Verb) underneath them, and just generally being a real pest. Sonic had to put up with BOTH enemies all the way through is long journey--from (Mythical Creature) Island, through the (Substance)Cap Zone, the Flying (Noun), (Substance)opolis, and much more, until, in the deadly Lava (Noun) Zone, (Knuckles' body part) almost KILLED Sonic! After surviving that, Sonic finally made it to the (Adjective) Palace that (Knuckles' Body Part) had been Guarding so (Adverb), and, after a/an (Adjective) fight, (Knuckles' Body Part) discovered who the bad guy REALLY was and he and Sonic have been allies ever since.
The games--and the character--have become extremely (Adjective) and now have comic books and tons of internet fanfic based off of them. In fact, (Knuckles' Body Part) even got his OWN game, in which we met new characters (Physical Trait) the Armadillo, Vector the (Animal), Espio the (Animal), and (Charmy's Personality Trait) Bee.
Meanwhile, Sonic and co. were still busy. In (Year) they visited (Silly Word) Island, home of magical birdies, in their first 3-D adventure, and travelled through such places as (Precious/Expensive Material) Dust Zone, (Noun) Gadget, and (Emotion) Puppet. That same year a Japanese-language anime was made starring Sonic, (Tails' Body Part), and, in his cartoon debut, (Knuckles' Body Part), journeying to (Robotnik's Japanese Food Name)manland and meeting people along the way such as (Famous Female), a skimpily-dressed kitty-humanoid bimbo, and their old "friend" Mecha again.
(Amount of Time) later, a strange racing game was released on the Sega (Planet), called "Sonic R". It was more truly 3-D than the earlier game, "Sonic 3-D (Noun)", and contained all four main good guys racing (Adverb) against the evil Dr. (Robotnik's Name), and really (Adjective) graphics.
Then, give or take a comic book issue or twenty, all was relatively quiet on the Sonic front until 1998, when the new (Number)-bit system, the Sega (Noun)cast, was released in Japan. And of course with it came a new Sonic game--"Sonic (Noun)", starring Sonic, (Tails' Body Part), (Knuckles' Body Part), Amy (Same Flower), Dr. (Robotnik's Name)--and three new major characters--(Adjective) the Cat, E-102 the renegage (Noun), and a new, super-creepy villian--a shapeshifting monster made out of (Substance), named "Perfect (Same Abstract Noun as the Emeralds)", as well as a new backup character named (Famous Female), a ghost (Same Species as Knuckles). It has a very complex storyline, in which you have to play ALL SIX characters' quests through to figure it all out, HUUUUUGE, gorgeous new Zones to explore such as Mystic (Noun), Station (Geometric Shape) and (Noun) Highway, and an artificial-life system of cute little creatures called (Silly Word (Plural)). It seems to be a game that you can (Adverb) play over and over and over again.
All told, Sonic the (Sonic's Species) may be over (Amount of Time) old--but he's still goin' strong!
