Bunnie Rabbot

Bunnie "Rabbot" is a rabbit, but she is not ALL rabbit--she was partially roboticised by the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik at a young age, but Sonic and Rotor managed to find her and yank her out of the Robotising chamber before it could quite happen all the way. It was a narrow escape--she is entirely robot from the waist down, and also has her left arm roboticised as well. But her BRAIN is still flesh-and-blood, and that's the important thing--it means she is still her own person, and still has free will, unlike a true robot.
Bunnie is one of the Freedom Fighters from the Saturday morning "Sonic the Hedgehog" ("SatAM") cartoon--she does NOT appear in any of the games (except for an in-joke cameo appearance in Sonic Spinball) so she is NOT a "canon" character according to Sega itself, but that doesn't stop her from being interesting! From there, she made it into an important role in the comic books, (the cartoon was basically a springboard for the comics, as they took the same storyline and just went quite a bit farther with it. That is to say, the ARCHIE Sonic comics. The FLEETAWAY ones are much much closer to the actual games; using Amy Rose as the leading lady instead of Sally, the Chaotix as the main "gang" of friends instead of the Freedom Fighters; etc.) In the comic books, she gained new abilities--like when Rotor modified her robotic limbs and made them extendable--and new relationships, such as her "sparking" romance with Antoine D'Coolette. But she is still very upset that she's part robot (well, wouldn't YOU be?!) and often tries different things to turn herself back to all-the-way normal--none have worked so far...
Supposedly, according to the latest comics, she cannot, officially, now, EVER be deroboticised. See, the deal is, in Super Sonic Special #11, (oh, "SPOILER WARNING", by the way) she came down with this fatal condition because her biological and cybernetic parts were "disagreeing" with each other--her body was fighting to become either all-robotic or all-organic--and poisoning her system in the process. The doctors gave her only three options: A very risky derobotisication prodecure that would have only about a million-in-one chance of working, and if it didn't it would kill her, or having all three robotic limbs removed and go through life as a triple amputee, or have NEW metallic limbs put on with absolutely NO chance of deroboticisation, EVER. Because, you see, the new ones would not be part of her original body only roboticised, like her first robotic limbs; they would be totally seperate and mean nothing to the DNA sequencers of a possible deroboticising machine. If that made any sense.
Well, she went with Option #3, get new limbs and be stuck that way, and now she is doomed to forever look like "Seven of Bun" as I call her new look. They made her WAY too slinky and sexy; it bugs me, because it seems as if they pulled a cheap writing stunt and did something really horrible to a major, likeable character just so they could snag in a few extra older male readers.
BUT, as you may have gathered by now, when it comes to the comic book storyline, I tend to throw large parts of it OUT THE WINDOW!! So as far as I am concerned, there is still hope for Bunnie to be her whole self again--always WAS hope, always WILL be. Until the day she dies.
Her condition has advantages and disadvantages--because of her bionic limbs, she's easily the strongest of the Freedom Fighters and is used as their "brawn". (I'd like to see her go up against Mighty, THAT would be interesting...) and can now, because of Rotor's modifications, stretch up and out to distances of up to about 40 feet. But on the other hand, she can't get wet or she'll rust, and she has to...erm...remove...her robotic limbs before she can go swimming on a hot day.
At any rate, Bunnie seems, from what I've read of her (again, I've never seen the cartoon) to be one of the more interesting and likeable Freedom Fighter characters. First of all, she is a mellow, laid-back, kindly sort of person--the type who would be nice to the one that everyone else picks on, (notice WHICH other Freedom Fighter she's hooked up with, ahem! And TALK about "opposites attract"...!) generous to a fault (the legendary "Southern hospitality") and while we're on the subject, she also speaks with a heavy "Southe'n accayant". She is basically nice to most people, calm, cheerful, optimistic, and practical--until you get her MAD enough, then she's a fierce fighter. She's one of the ones who supported Tails becoming a Freedom Fighter despite his young age and he calls her "Aunt Bunnie" affectionately even though they are not related at all (obviously, duh!). And since I read somewhere that she is working as a part-time nurse, even though I don't know how "correct" that is, I'm going with it in my fanfics and saying that she has medical knowledge--after all, it fits the rest of her personality.
All in all, Bunnie Rabbot is a character who it would be great to have as a friend, and really dangerous to have as an enemy!

798 curious tourists have stopped by to have a li'l ol' talk with Bunnie Rabbot since June 17, 1999. Of course, she didn't let ANY of them leave without trying her homemade gumbo and apple pie--and they all turned out very happy.
