Princess Sally Alicia Acorn
Princess Sally Alicia Acorn is the daughter of King and Queen Acorn, and the RIGHTFUL heir to the throne--which Robotnik has usurped, in the cartoon. (Or at least she WAS until her older brother that she knew nothing about showed up, in the comic books.) The evil high-tech city now called "Robotropolis" was originally "Mobotropolis" (from the word "Mobius, I imagine?) and was the capitol city of the animal-people. Sally is constantly trying to win her city back, but since Robotnik has all the troops, all the technology, all the resources, and a good, strong, fortified base, it's an uphill battle...
She is only from the cartoon, not any of the games. She is a 15-year-old (17 in my fanfic) "ground squirrel"--I don't know how official this is, but MOST sources seem to agree that she is half squirrel and half chipmunk. She has a stubby little tail like a chipmunk but is usually CALLED a squirrel, on the other paw, her brother, Elias, has a long fluffy squirrel-tail--they picked up different traits from their two parents.
At any rate, even though I have never seen the cartoon, Princess Sally has definitely gotten my attention from what I've read about her. She seems like a GREAT character. She is very tough, strong, brave, and smart. She can understand technical jargon. She goes off on quests all on her own without needing a "big strong man" to help her, and for pete's sake, she's the LEADER of the Freedom Fighters! So she's obviously not a wimp. The main thing that is really noticeable and different about Princess Sally is that even though she is the leading male character's girlfriend, she is NOT just his little accessory--she is very much her own person. She manages to be tough and brave while also having a semi-normal love-life. Now THAT'S rare. It's rare in adult, well-written modern television shows, in fact, and almost totally UNHEARD OF, in a Saturday morning kid's cartoon! (Although from what I've heard, that cartoon was quite dark and serious and complex--not the typical Saturday A.M. fluff you'd expect at all. I'd like to SEE it, dangit!)
Antoine, as one of the only remaining Royal Soldiers, works for her even though he'd rather not for the most part, and she also has a small hand-held computer named "Nicole" (more on that later.) Tails calls her "Aunt Sally." Her ultimate goal is to overthrow Robotnik and get the throne back for her aging father. (Her mother is either dead or missing, I forget which, and I forget if they ever got her back safe or not.) Of course, she herself is then next in line for the throne, and if she marries Sonic, he'd be KING! (Whoah!) But neither of them will admit that their relationship is anywhere near that serious--they act all unconcerned when the other person goes off on a mission while secretly being worried inside--but let another man/woman capture the other one's eye and WHOAH boy, jealousy city! This happens fairly often as it seemed for a while there that practically ALL the male characters--especially in the comic books--were going after her. She seems to have a bit of a past with Knuckles that no-one has ever quite explained, and Antoine was after her but BAD until he got involved with Bunnie instead.
Speaking of jealousy city, the fans often think that Sally should beat up Amy Rose for going near "her man". But as I said earlier, that is STUPID and pointless, as pointless as...arguing who could beat the other one up, Kirk or Picard? They're from DIFFERENT UNIVERSES, you morons! Sigh...
At any rate, despite the fact that her fans are mean to Amy Rose, Sally herself has never hurt another good-guy character as far as I know, and unlike some people I have the ability to like good characters no matter where I see them. And Princess Sally is very definitely a great character.

curious tourists have been by to talk to Princess Sally since June 23, 1999. Of course, she told all of them to either join the Freedom Fighters and help her or BUG OFF; she's a busy woman and doesn't want to mess with lazy gawkers.
