Introduction

    GISI Imamat Rajani Surabaya is proud to present a short impromptu of "The Prodigal Son".  This impromptu was held at  GOLf Majapahit Satellite in Wartel HPR at Jalan Klampis Jaya No.54.    It was held on August 31st, 2002.  About 20 people join each Saturday there, but every end of the month, all the satellites (Majapahit Satellite, Wiyung satellite, and  Gading satellite) come together for a 'GOL gabungan' (it's where all members of each satellite come together for praise and worship, like a mini Sunday sermon, you can say).  At that time more than 30 people come.

    "The Prodigal Son" is based on the parable of a lost child in Luke 15:11-32.  In the parable, the child was claiming for his share of his father's inheritance.  His Father gave what he had asked.  The child went to another city and spend the money carelessly.  When pest and hunger stroked that town, he had no place to go to and no money left.  He went to another town and worked for a landlord there.  He was asked to tend the landlord's pigs in the field.  When he was hungry, he asked whether he can have the pig's food left over, but nobody gives permission.  He then realized how wonderful it was the life with his Father.  He then decided to go back.  When he was still afar, his Father saw him and He was moved.  He ran toward his son and gave him a big hug.  The child was surprised.  He did not think that his Father would treat him like that.  He apologized for what happened and he was ashamed.  Instead, his Father accepted him for who he is.  He valued him as his child, he gave a party to welcome him home.  This action enraged his older brother.  For the older brother was working in the field, when he was home he heard party noises.  He was angry at his father and his brother and demanded his father to throw him a party, because he had worked nights and days without the companion of his friends.  His Father reminded him that he should rejoiced upon his brother's come back, and as for parties and pleasures, he could enjoy it anyway he liked, for he was always by the Father's side.  But now the brother was lost and now he was found.

    This parable was then customized into a short impromptu that we are going to see now.
