I did not have SRS in November. The insurance company denied the claim just 36 hours prior to the procedure. I do not have that insurance anymore but I still don't have one that covers even doctor visits related to trans issues. I am not happy about that at all. I can't escape this stigma no matter how hard I try. I am feeling very frustrated and defeated at the moment. Don't have any idea when I will have the opportunity again.

I have scheduled my SRS. It will happen on November 2, 2007. I am having a hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries and cervix. The procedure will be done at UMHS-CGSP and it will be done laproscopically. I will be out of work for only 2 weeks.

The doctors are working diligently to get insurance coverage for this procedure. It's non-cosmetic so there is no requirement to pay ahead. We'll submit it to the insurance company and see how much they'll pay. The doctor has to write a Letter of Medical Necessity. After that it should all be good. My insurance will not cover all of it, but even 80% is a start.

See my Journal for more details and information about my emotional input as the time gets closer. It's just a few weeks away.

I had my 2nd opinion, and I will be working on getting in to see the doctors. Check back soon for more updates.

I am going to be scheduling my surgery (hopefully) for the spring. At this time I have not yet seen the doctor, but my health hasn't been great so I have been slowed up. As soon as there is more to update, I'll put it in here.
