MONEY

The symbol for the Philippine peso is P. The 100th part of a peso is called sentimo. It is also called, colloquially, sampera , from isang (isa+ng), meaning 'one' and pera, meaning 'centavo'. In almost all instances, in stores, and in the markets, both customer and store clerk or market vendor use Spanish and English terminologies during the haggling and in the final transaction. In the following table, the Spanish terminologies are spelled according to the Tagalog sound system. (It should be mentioned here that the Tagalog terminologies are more frequently used by the common people both in making actual count and in their shopping.)
