Just a bunch of poems I've written while at college.

Rainbow Dreamer
We're calling you down out of the clouds
Come back to us here
Down on the ground
You can't always live up there with the birds
Come down, fair dreamer, come down
You must learn to bring
Your dreams with you
You must learn that what's real
Is to live for, too

Rest your heart, for gentle time is 'ere forgot...
And inward thought reveal one truth
Though clouds be spent to wander skies
The world be found deep within your eyes

Knowledge is a kindled flame to which we seek
Enlivened, undying presence all feel
Let it be the thing you take to heart
And in parting, never be apart

If you wander wayward and are lost
Only let memory bring you to your path
Look inside, that's where you shine
A human's mind, a soul divine

Lift your sullied wings once more, Oh Love
Alight upon the heart of my beloved
My gentle touch is but a shadow of thine
What's more, I have not your power to woo
So take this eager kiss from my lips
Take it to the one I care so dearly for
And if the answer is a ready no,
Then no more may I walk upon this earth
Let my tears be the memento of my sorry life
Carry my farewells to my beloved
As gratefully I go to my eternal sleep

A Sonnet to a Friend

My friend so dear, I see how your heart hurts
No longer loved by the one you trusted
All the care and the love you gave not returned.
I know you mustwonder, can time be so cruel?
Worry not, your time will soon come.
Do not give up on love and love in turn
Will surely not give up you.  Certainly,
The sun and stars will still shine on above
Do the same; shine always on here below.
Though now your pain for effort's sake and more
Keeps your heart from growing warm or kind
Do not keep this dose of hatred's bitter
Instead, be wise, prepared for the next time,
You may find fate will be kind and love, sublime.

What winter's sorrow can outlast sun?
Happiness with spring has come;
Just as fearful night is bled with dawn,
Gentle day doth break, thy woe be gone
The morrow after, just as fair
And summer fairies sing thee there!
