Description |
| Sidira is a moderately tall human from the Cultrop of Rajnah, and thus her skin is finely tanned. She has bright blue eyes, and long black hair. She has a tattooed marking on her navel, and a strange circular rust colored birthmark just below her neck. It is often covered by her symbol of the Sun Lords. Her clothing is bright colored to reflect sunlight, and her voice has a soothing quality to it. |
|
History |
| Sidira does not know who her parents are, or where they may be now. She was taken in by the Sun Lords as a small child, destined to become a temple maiden. It was the small birthmark on her chest that first attracted the attention of the elders. Some saw it as a sign, and interpreted the circular shape to be that of the Sun. She grew up in luxury, compared to her fellow female citizens of Rajnah. She lived and trained within the temple, where she was never allowed to leave. She was often was brought to the palace to be trained as well. She did enjoy learning the stories of Lumen and the other gods and goddesses, but she often found herself wishing to be outside, and not surrounded by walls. She learned that she had a special gift at the age of thirteen. She could create glowing spheres of light, that somehow moved as she wished them to. She kept this a secret, knowing that the Sun Lords were weary of the strange magic (arcane) that she read of in her books. Her only interaction with normal people came in the temple, when citizens would come for blessings or potions. She rarely had direct contact with them, but she was allowed to be present. After her sixteenth birthday, she was given access to leave the temple, but only under escort. She found she could often lose her escort in crowds, and thus, did so on several occasions. It was during these times, that she learned of the slavery present in Rajnah. At first, she was unsure what to think. After all, she didn't know any of them. But then she began to wonder, what if her real parents were slaves themselves? She was determined to do something, but she knew she could not speak up openly. She visited one of the slave camps, leaving food outside a few tents, not wishing to be seen by anyone. She did however get spotted by a group of slave children. In exchanged for letting her go without alerting the guards, she told them stories of Lumen, the Radiant One. At the age of seventeen, Sidira was brought before the Sultan, to perform the Summer Solstice ritual known as Sol-Litha. She was summoned again the next year for the same ritual. During this time, she maintained her secret life of being story teller to the slave children, who of course had told their parents, and all their friends. Guards began to suspect something was going on, but did nothing at first. The slaves were quiet and not causing problems, they didn't want to interfere. Summer Solstice had come again, and she was summoned to the palace for Sol-Litha. Since the whole kingdom was now distracted by the yearly rituals, the slaves that Sidira had been visiting decided now was the best time to escape. She had given them hope, and they were determined to make use of it. The guards, of course, trampled the uprising swiftly. Sidira was outraged, and refused to perform the ritual. When the elders threatened her life, she unleashed her spheres of light, hoping to distract them enough to get away. Her public display of Strange Magic alarmed the Sun Lord elders, who ordered the guards to hunt her down. Sidira's last memories involve running down a long corridor in the palace. She was almost to the main gates, when she felt a sharp pain in her back. She collapsed to the floor, and looked up. The elders were standing around her, with guards holding spears. The last thing she remembers was intense pain, and then darkness. |

Personality |
| While in prayer to Lumen, and performing official duties for the Sun Lords, Sidira is very quiet, and very reverent. She speaks only when spoken to, and never looks anyone in the eye. When she is not on official duty, she lives it up, as much as a woman can in Rajnah. She makes jewelry, and repairs the clothing of her fellow sisters. It has been noted that she often speaks her opinion too often, but she generally knows when a good time to do so is, so as not to attract unwanted attention. She has a kind smile, and pleasant voice, which makes those she helps feel very comforted when she is near. She does not blame Lumen for what happened to her, but instead, feels sorry for the elders who only seem to care for themselves. |
