Beckham quarrels with Fergie and his future at Old Trafford is under question David Beckham was involved in a sensational training ground bust-up with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson 24 hours before the crucial top of the Premiership clash with Leeds United. The row came the day after United's England star allegedly missed training on Friday. Later that evening his wife, Victoria, went alone to the British Fashion Awards ceremony in London. Beckham had missed Victoria's modelling debut on Wednesday. The next day the couple were believed to have stayed at their Hertfordshire home . Ironically, Posh Spice claimed her husband had been unable to see her first appearance on the cat-walk because he was training in Manchester with his United colleagues. She said he sent her flowers and a good-luck message instead. An eye witness at the top security multi-million pound training complex at Carrington, on the outskirts of Manchester, detailed the extraordinary scenes as the United manager confronted his wayward midfielder: 10.30am - the United players, led by first team coach Steve McClaren, headed to the training pitch where goalkeeping coach Tony Coton had set up practice areas. The players split into two groups, one of which included Beck-ham, skipper Roy Keane and Dwight Yorke. The United stars started their stretching exercises and limbered up. 10.36am - The manager, in a track-suit and wearing a black bobble hat, marched out at a fast walk from the dressing room to join the Beckham group. He stood between Yorke and Keane and beckoned Beckham towards him. There was an exchange of words. 10.37am - Beckham left the training session, kicking a stray ball high into the air on his way. 10.40am - Beckham, by now changed into normal attire, climbed into his black Range Rover and sped away from the training complex. The confrontation coincided with reports in a Spanish magazine that Beckham had expressed a wish to sign for Barcelona at the end of the season. The Manchester United party were believed to be staying in the Leeds area on Saturday night but manager Ferguson was not available for comment. After this controversy with Ferguson Beckham who is certainly influenced by his wife might not want to stay at Old Trafford for the next season. He had offers from such clubs as Barcelona, Arsenal and Inter. And also that is a big question if Ferguson himself would like to keep him Beckham at Old Trafford for next year. |
