Rivaldo refuses to go to England

He has confirmed that he is expecting to open talks with Barca boss Louis Van Gaal about a new contractto stay at the Nou Camp and said: "I will open talks in June but if I must leave the Catalan club, then I will not go to Manchester because I prefer the Italian championship."

The news will be a blow to United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who has made no secret of his admiration for the Brazilian and was reportedly ready to make a bid when Rivaldo
fell out with Barca coach VanGaal earlier this season.

However, this latest news makes any move to the European champions now seem highly unlikely.
