United beat Leeds as they six points clear at top

A brilliant opportunist goal by Andy Cole saw Manchester United beat their nearest
premier league rivals Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road on
Sunday.
United won without England midfielder David Beckham who was
left out of the side. He was reported to have had a training
ground row with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Beckham's team mates coped admirably without him to push
United six points clear in the title race.
United, who lost Dwight Yorke to injury in the 29th minute,
also hit the upright after Roy Keane's shot came off goalkeeper
Nigel Martyn's arm.
Leeds wasted several chances to equalise. Erik Bakke's 59th
minute header hit the crossbar and Lee Bowyer somehow contrived
to send a follow-up shot over the bar after Alan Smith had
crashed the ball against a post with nine minutes left.
