Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the Confederate States of America

Editor's Note:  I have thus far been unable to find any factual copy of a pledge of allegiance to the flag of the Confederate States of America.  Therefore, I have combined my own words with those of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and what it ought to be based upon my own convictions.

I, [state your name], pledge allegiance to the flag of the Confederate States of America and to the Sovereignty for which it stands, separate states united to form a more perfect union under God's guidance, divisible, with liberty and justice for all. I salute the Confederate flag with affection, reverence, and undying devotion to the Cause for which it stands--hereby pledging my life, my liberty and my fortune thereunto.  By this pledge I submit the vindication of the Cause for which we fought.  To its strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, and the perpetuation of those principles he loved, fought and sometimes died for.  I further pledge to teach only the true history of the Confederacy to all within my hearing. So help me Jehovah God!
