WILL THERE EVER BE A RAINBOW? By: Sherwyn Montgomery Burns forward by Steve Allen November 1998. It is a day remembered by many on the Forum. For it was on that month and year…that HE arrived. He arrived using a pseudonym. “BTSMGL”. A name that meant something, but what? Was it a secret enchantment that if sung would conjure up a demon from the very pits of Hell itself? Or did it stand for “Buffo The Sarah Michelle Gellar Lover”? No one knew. HE himself seemed amiable at first. He enjoyed taking part in many conversations. He began to amass friends and allies. But for some reason, he changed his name. Why? Did he think that he might fit in better with “Shrewy”? Was his old name too suspicious? Was he afraid someone might find out what it meant? Or did he simply think people would confuse him with “KMFDM Lad”? Another mystery in a long list of mysteries already surrounding HIM. With a name change came a change of attitude. He opened up more to the Forum. He broadened his influence by joining the FAO and was one of the first to join the new Brotherhood of the Fin. Some people became wary of him; others accepted him as own of his own. After a few weeks, some people on the Forum had enough. They made a plan and when the time came, they took action. Unbeknownst to HIM, many Forumners cornered him one night at the FAO Chat. They demanded to know more about HIM. HE was threatened with bodily harm if HE didn’t comply with their demands. HE had no choice. That night, we learned HIS real name was Juan José Arroyo Pacheco. He was from the island of Puerto Rico, he was a young 15 years old, he was remarkably handsome, often called Juanki, and he admired Erik Larsen’s work ever since he laid his hands on Savage Dragon #19. He had a love for old Japanese daikaiju films and was often called a pervert for reasons unknown. Suffice it to say, he was finally embraced by the regulars at the Savage Forum, and as all great fairy tales they all lived happily ever after, and “Shrewy” was an enigma no more!
