WOLVERINE #143

Better than the last issue, but not quite... Wolverine and the two Hudsons begin their break-out of the AIM base, and are shocked to find, alive...Snowbird! They begin to free her when Weapon X suddenly appears. Wolverine takes on him while Vindicator and Guardian free Snowbird. In the end, it's Vindicator who finishes him off. Over where AF is being held capture, Heather begins to notice odd things about this particular AIM base...first: AIM usually manufactures weapon, whereas this one seems more involved in biological research... and they're unusually interested in the supernatural... Wolverine jumps in and frees the team, with Guardian helping him, and Vindicator piloting one of the AIM android tanks! AF and Wolverine escape, and the damaged AIM Android explodes, sending Modok flying through the air. Guardian tries to save Vindicator, but the Android explodes for a final time, destroying itself entirely. AF and Wolverine run outside and head home. Now we get a back-up story dealing with Snowbird and AIM. It seems Snowbirds body began decaying (as any normal corpse would) but before all cells died out, it began reforming until it grew back (this due to her powers). Suddenly, Guardian remembers why AIM abducted him. This wasn't a normal AIM group...but a cult, a spin-off so to say. They saw Snowbird as a link between science and the super-natural...and they wanted to "exploit" that link. They were also extracting information from the two Hudsons for unknown reasons. Plus, it seems that Department H KNEW about the AIM base...but did nothing about it...hmmm...the last two panels show an AIM craft landing down, and some AIM bee-keepers carrying out two incubators...each with an odd looking human-like being in them...

I give this a 7 out of 10.
